I'll be honest, I don't like Jimmy Dore.  I cant quite put my finger on it, but he rubs me the wrong way.  I know you enjoy him, and I don't hold that against you.  But I stand by my judgement that I think what he does is a propaganda hit just as much as the dribble coming from CNN or FOX.  In my opinion he (JD) doesn't report so much as he just chooses a target to bash.

And to be fair, I dont know of a single reporter or news site that offers unbiased news, so I try to watch and read what I can from all the sources I can stand, and then use my own mind to piece together what I think is the most probable and true course of events, vs. what is just garbage.  Am I 100% accurate in my estimation of the truth?  Definitely not, but I think it's closer than any one news source is portraying.

I apologise if I am coming off as confrontational, Alder.  You are my friend, and I value your opinion, even when it is not the same as mine.  It is just my frustration level going out of control, and sometimes I let my emotions get the best of me.

What would be the appropriate mind fuck? That I work, but not for money, have lived a life of service for much of it, with a minimalist lifestyle? And yet, I dare criticize capitalist and libertarian PsOV. I suppose I have found myself, politically and socially, in that "brother's keeper" mindset. Who started that bullshit, anyway? But, this thread is about propaganda, who does it in this country, for whom, and why?

I thought you might say something regarding only living once as an appropriate mind fuck...

I think that your chosen lifestyle is a noble one but from what I know of you, you aren’t apt to complain about not having enough or people having what you want...

I am not speaking of people who are content in what they have. My comments are directed toward those who complain about not having enough or people having more than them. In my experience, you can have all that you want if you are willing to put in the necessary foot work... If you don’t want more and are happy, that’s awesome!

I am really out off by people who complain about all the things they don’t have but do the bare minimum in life... If all you are doing is attempting to fill your life with the maximum amount of leisure time, then you don’t get to complain... I believe that if you are working your ass off and always being productive then you will find yourself with little to complain about....

I won’t be able to watch these videos until later so I apologize if my comments are off topic...

Just to further illustrate my point, I have been up doing jars and working on things that benefit me for 3 hours. I’m going to expand some cultures here shortly... My buddy, who complains often about what he doesn’t have, has been laying on futon watching TV... I work a job all week, despite my prodding, he will not look for a steady job and does the occasional construction gig... Why shld he get to complain? I think there are millions with his attitude. Stability is earned and not guaranteed...

If your happy doing what you're doing PJ, more power to you.

The point I've been trying to make is that the top 3 richest people in the country have more wealth than the bottom 50%.  It is not that way because people are lazy, it is that way because people are greedy, and the system is broken.

When the wealth is distributed like that, and then I hear people talking about how its a welfare state, and everyone could afford their own house, and two cars if they just worked harder....  to that I call bull shit.  Its not true, and it's not realistic.

Now you're sounding a little like Jimmy Dore there Juth.   I was outside in the dry yesterday, building new back stairs, so I missed the Jimmy Dore weekly live show.  I get the replay because I get his premium content and got to catch some of what I missed yesterday.   What I was listening to when I paused to check out the Topia was his guest, Abby Martin, with a report and commentary on what's really the news and history of what's going down in Venezuela.  I have had my eye on it for months now and asking they do stories on it.  It's sad that it had to get to the stage it is now for them to get around to it.

It was interesting that the guy the see eye eh has picked to be the president in Venezuela was educated in the U.S., and it is funnier than shit that this school's team name is, "the Colonials!"

To gain understanding about what's happening in Venezuela, they had this little gem:

Wow, that's really hitting below the belt, lol... ;)

The stuff happening down in Venezuela is very ugly, and I wish all the people caught in the crossfire the best.

But after "we" get all that oil first, eh?   What was that PBS series about the history of the oil business called?  Oh yeah, The Prize.  Hey, when you want something bad enough, it has to be worth burning down the whole planet to get it, eh.

Fuck it, I hate pussy footing around.  Lets get it on and light this fire if thats what has to happen.  The situation we are in, and the direction we are going leads me to believe that it is inevitable.   I really feel that anymore it is a matter of 'when', and not one of 'if'.

The 1%ers are as out of touch now as they were during the French Revolution.  Right down to the 'Let them eat cake' mentality for the federal workers who aren't getting paid.

I've had enough of the bull shit, and enough of the lies. It makes me angry.  We the people have no advocate anymore, and the BS comes from all sides.  I don't think for a moment that any of them sons a bitches give a damn about any of us.  I think the yellow vests have the right idea, but haven't taken it far enough yet.

I say burn it to the ground.

This is still spin, but I find myself agreeing with it more than most spin.

As Jimmy Dore would say, Trumps tantrum over the wall in not playing to his base, it's playing his base.

Check this article

https://www.lewrockw...elves-to-death/

It is a review of a book which, in my opinion, perfectly explains the fractured and stupid discussions about politics.

It's full of useful, I say brilliant, quotes like the above. Useful for understanding why these political discussions take the form they do.

To read the quotes in the review you'd think the book was written yesterday, but no, in 1985!

“Television is altering the meaning of ‘being informed’ by creating a species of information that might properly be called disinformation. Disinformation does not mean false information. It means misleading information – misplaced, irrelevant, fragmented or superficial information – information that creates the illusion of knowing something, but which in fact leads one away from knowing.” ― Neil Postman

I promise the article is worth ten minutes of your time. Because it IS about your time - on this planet

Well, for me, the ten minutes had to be over half an hour. Nonetheless, I recommend the article.

It is sad that the author had to let this slip: "Now that the Silicon Valley social media behemoth corporations have hundreds of millions addicted to amusing themselves to death, they can decide what is acceptable speech and that which doesn’t conform to their left-wing views," while the bulk of the piece shows us a right-wing agenda being played out. The Jimmy Dore piece I posted about the admission that the Security (Deep) State, under the color of its authority, has been used to clearly suppress any thought it viewed as "left" by way its Operation Mockingbird ringers in media, from broadcast to publishing. We have all seen, whether we cop to it or not, that the truly functioning socialism has been in the subsidizing of military, industrial, and media corporate giants, at the cost of every facet of what were once, the commons.

God forbid, while the estimate of $21trillion stolen from the common wealth, that the medical and university systems not have our health and development as individual human beings to leverage any personal gains from us, under a threat to life and an economic slavery. Any question that a government of the people could pool resources for anything but propping up the already powerful is the Reaganesque Kool-Aid that government has no business helping all of us. When the opposition become the likes of the Clintons and Obamas, pretending that these are the "left," there remains no left (other than a useful bugaboo). We get the ball on the one yard line with ten of our players in the penalty box, while the other team is none other than the police state.

So yes, the system is broken, but it wasn't broken by people looking out for people. It is co-opted by the old, and new, rich, but mostly the old, as a few have been clever enough to steal big and find their ways in. If we hand the narrative over to the few who can afford to hire the followers of Edward Bernays, the Fascism we'll get will erode all the terms and will make us choose "right," or, "left," while the reality which plays out will be "top," or, "bottom."

Fascism is by definition, the corporate state. This is the reality of the day, and to quote George Carlin, "It's a big [small] club, and you ain't in it."

When every term and label has become meaningless, why should your favorite get to be what you want it to be?   How many Communists actually lived in communes?

It reminds me of something my dad told me when I was a boy.

In theory, communism sounds like a really good plan.  But unfortunately, much like christianity, it had never truly been tried as it was advertised.

So, Jesus and Satan were walking along the way.   Jesus bent down, picked something up and put it in his pocket.  Satan asked, "what was that?"

Jesus said, "the Truth."

Satan said, "Give that to me, I'll organize it for you."
