Hi all it's mid summer here in Australia and is ephedra's favourite season, This year for the first time my flowering ephedra went to seed. I have never seen ephedra seed pods before and thought id share with all of you. The seed pods formed from small red flowering sites and are a red berry like structure. I have harvested one seed so far which looks viable, the pod i harvested it from was beginning to wilt which i thought meant it was time to harvest. I don't know too much about ephedra's life cycle but these are 8-10 years old now and this is my first year that flowers resulted in pods. I didn't get pictures of the flowers but here are the pods and the seed harvested so far. I hope you enjoy :)
PS: This plant is a great chew when sick, i had a chest infection last year and chewing a 20cm branch was enough to make breathing easier for a few hours.
