Hello,

Quick intro ... thankful for this community, shrooms, and so much more.  I am here as a student and fellow teacher.  I'm not sure my asking the following is allowed; envision I will find out ... and please reply if you have insight.

In mono tub growing, if 6500K (daylight) Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL) in round reflector clip-on is placed on top of tub lid instead of hanging 6-12 inches above it ... AND at harvest, the shrooms have been singed, are they still kewl?

Hi,

As long as they don't decompose yet it should be cool. No need to use such a strong grow light though!

try to mimic what mushrooms get in nature.

before they fruit the mycellium is in the dark trying to get at some dim light up above the soil line, which is often in the shade

less is more, especially in such a tight spot as a tub

You can avoid this in the future by spacing the lamp farther from the fungi, or using a weaker fluorescent bulb. Just a tip, u probably already know this.
