Here is my Azurescens mycellium. One jar was nocced with LC, the other had a small piece of agar and is going a little slower. The bag was also LC and is going nicely. I had one other bigger jar from the LC that went bad for some reason and turned totally black and looked nasty. I got it out of there asap when I noticed. These ones look good though, and I am looking forward to taking them to some cardboard and alder chips. The one jar will no longer shake and is pretty solid. Oddly enough it got the least of the LC. Looking forward to putting some outside this fall in hopes for a nice bed next year. Growing pretty fast once it took off.

Can't edit that other post so here it is again. I think I was uploading during the transitional time. It is white and red popcorn, that is what the dark spots are. I gave the partially colonized jar which was the agar one to a friend with mutual interest, so paid it forward a little already. When I get it transferred to wood and cardboard, I will share some more as we go.

Late to the party, thanks for making the thread bezevo.

I am also in the PNW and your are correct Juthro, the valley I live in is 8a.

I'm trying some wavy caps on a late start.

I have few grows under my belt, but I don't think my syringe was good b/c I noc'd multiple rye jars, tried to colonize at different temps, but zero myc.

The print that followed though is thriving on agar.

Looking forward to participating in this group thread.

Thanks For sharing . hope you get some  chips going sopn and can get some beds going .

8a sounds good  .i am in 5a and it's very hot and very cold here . i think more people on my climate have more trouble with heat killing there wood lover  mycelium .

i am hoping Iviods wmight  do it here as there the more cold and heat tolerant .

good luck

Thank you bezevo and good luck to you as well.

Alder is plentiful here so I am going w/ that for my sub.

I was planning to transfer from agar straight to sterilized alder sawdust.

I also have chips and chunks I planned to transfer up to.

I'm (roughly) working off the Azurecens Foundation PDF.

Anyone in the group have comments w/ that plan would be appreciated.

Finally got around to getting my spots dug for the outdoor grows. Followed Arathu's method for layering like a lasagna and bordered by bricks to create a boundary and used tips from hyphaenation and waylit jim.

The second hole:

Lined them both with cardboard and then proceeded with the layers, in this order, spawn, oak sawdust, hickory chips and poplar shavings, hardwood mulch and a thin layer topsoil, then repeat until almost to the top, stepped on it all to compress it down, dumped around 4 gallons of water on each bed and then cased with a good thick layer of nature scapes mulch.

I covered both spots with plywood to keep cats and squirrels out of them. I will give them a good drink once a week depending on the rain we get. Now its just a waiting game until fall. Closer to fall I will do this again for an ovoid patch for the spring time!

My bad, I forgot to mention, but yeah it is a bed each of Azures, and wavy's. It took 4 bags of spawn for each spot, and they smelled really good when I broke them up!

I completely missed this thread.......Yeah I'd like to hear too because that/those bed(s) are sweet! Woodlover PORN....we want mushroom porn damn it!

Beauty work folks....established outdoor beds that are cared for can and will last for many years especially the woodlovers....

I'm in zone 5a.....native ovoid country, wavy caps do well here too, cubes will grow but not over winter so a bed would have to be remade each spring....

Outdoor fruiting is amazing....we are merely amateurs and students of nature....IMHO

Your wish is my command lol

My wavy bed is the only thing that produced anything last year, weather was all screwy so it didnt produce much, hopefully this year will be better. My azure bed had little mushrooms pop up in it that wasnt azures, not sure that bed will ever do anything. And we will see if my ovoid bed does anything this spring.
