So today is a mushy project day !!! Good times. Personally I’ve found my mushy’s enjoy Metal. Which works out great since it’s my favorite genre! On goes the new In Flames album. And let’s get to work!

So today I’m doing a bulk substrate and 7 grain to grain transfers.

I also whipped up a batch of MEA to test a few liquid cultures that seem a bit suspect to me.

AGAR
500ml filtered water
10g agar
10g ME

I poured my dishes in my SAB same place I’ll do my transfers. 892c9a5f8390d9844998ad39ea5041db.jpg
Just letting the dishes set

For the main event
fe2f623e1c508e003097d10dd9ab5b51.jpg
I have my pasteurized coco/verm mix.

650g coco coir
8 cups vermiculite
4 quarts of 170° water
Mixed well and let sit about 18hrs

After the grain transfers I will mix the rest of my spawn into the bottom part of my tub with the substrate wrap it and let it sit for a few days to a week. Then onto fruiting. 3a0d9ac5c737a99d6aae082c5b4fe091.jpgdc39d9d37dc37cdc34e19103d1c64732.jpg73303cf12ec04403dc5a18c776d99eb8.jpg

I’ll add 2 tablespoons of spawn to each sterilized jar of grain and place them into the incubator.5525395594af02bf65150d3b78fd5f79.jpg4a117eed0a780a33c4bd3459f2456379.jpg.

I will snap shots throughout the process for the thread.

I hope everyone’s day is treating them well and all is good!!

Nice! Thanks myceli family!:-) Again I’m humbled...... You made me smile.

I’m totally coining that “myceli family.” What a perfect play on words sounded out!:-) No trademark so it’s free to use for everyone with no fear of copyright issues:-) .

I may very well be the 5000th person who thought this putting it into heavy rotation within the community like all the damn acronyms I had to learn:/) Still kinda cute though:-)

Excuse the rant.

Truly thank you. I love to take photos and it feels really nice to have someone see what I saw in the picture.

I hope everyone is well.

I think you have some minor verticillium and/or bacteria contaminations.

The fruits recently posted, they have very deep brown streaks and wavy stems and an occasional split cap. Could be a vert or a bacteria response.

That spawn bag that you used to do the g2g transfers looks kinda bacterial. That tight compact mycelium with the uncolonized kernels clinging to it usually signals that.

If you can nip these little things in the bud you can get even better than your nice results!

Hard to say where it may be coming from...It' to be expected getting the hang of LCs though. Might be catching a bit of bacteria during SAB work or the lids may not be 100%.

Could need a bit more sterilization time on the grains or agar/LC. Or longer vent time before putting the weight but doubtful.

Could just have grabbed some hitchhiking bacteria in your agar work that you could/t tell.

I thought the dark brown streaks were likely to be where spores dropped through the radial rips in the partial veil to decorate the stipe.

The brown streaks are visible long before sporulation or the caps are even close to opening on some of the pics. It's not a spore related issue.
