Hi, i have a question that has me confused.

We all know that dunking a casing is good to rehydrate.

But how about misting?

Would misting the mycelium block really be enough to rehydrate it for another good flush?

Please help.

Any advise would be good.

Thanks in advance.

if misting a block worked,
no one would dunk.
a fully colonized block absorbs water very slowly if at all
that's why i invented dunking
misting only works on materials not fully colonized/overlaid
such as the casing layer itself.

the only time ive seen anything remotely like misting used to rehydrate something is when using a LB tek. and that is more like "saturating" it. because you just overwhelm it with water and allow it to absorb it.

ive seen casings rehydrated without misting, but it was along the lines of the saturation. use a bottle that sprays a thin line of water and saturate the casing layer, also spray around the edge of the whole casing, allowing it to roll down the sides and into under the casing itself. it will all be absorbed (as long as you dont go overboard). at this point the casing layer itself may become slightly matted. make sure to break it up.
good luck

You don't mist the substrate when you hydrate that way. You apply a new casing layer, then after it partially colonizes, you can begin misting. That will carry the moisture into the substrate below. Dunking seems to work better.
