Actually, in my state where cannibus became legal for recreational use, many convictions are being overturned as long as the amount was under the "legal" limit. And you're not tested for it when on probation in my county.
Sometimes good things do happen!!!

On the ‘Mushroom movement’, my personal opinion is to promote decriminalization and legalization while staying discreet and vigilant until that time. From what I’ve witnessed in my lifetime, the political forces of (modern democratic) governments (in particular) are constantly moving between liberal and conservative, strict and tolerant, religious and sectarian, warring and peaceful, and so on. My point is that just because we have seen a lot of progress on acceptance of Marijuana and a small move with mushrooms in the right direction doesn’t mean that there will not be a crackdown tomorrow. Be discreet and stay vigilant while persistently and patiently promoting the ‘movement’.

Can we let the people out of jail before we let the rich sell it?
As for me, I don't have the power to let anyone out of anything, nor allow nor deny anyone else the ability to grow and/or sell them.
But if the legal climate does change, I'd like to get my foot in the door before the scene gets infected with corporate contaminants seeking to monopolize it.
But until they're legalized I'll keep growing them anyway, of course.

"corporate contaminants"
The only known contam more aggressive than Trich.
And if left unchecked is ultimately fatal to all forms of life (like cancer. Exactly like cancer, i.e. 'unregulated growth').
Unlike corporations Trich has a useful purpose (outside the context of growing mushrooms, of course).

I know it's lame to quote movies but "For only in their dreams can men be truly free, 'twas always thus and thus 'twill always be" Robin Williams Dead Poets Society.
I am not a fan of government in the slightest, but at the same time without them the tyrants and scumbags would be ruthless. I know all systems and individuals are flawed that's just the way it is, but where is the middle ground where we can all prosper and be decent to one another?

CallMeCrazy...
Don't worry, once we place the AI behavioral modification microchip in all of humanity, everything will be fine.

The only way to win a rigged game is to quit playing. Or become the one who rigs it, if one happens to be a high-functioning psychopath.
Tyranny is a form of government, after all, so government can be (and generally is) the way through which the scumbags you allude to manifest their ruthlessness with relative impunity. Unorganized groups of scumbags who don't transform themselves into "governments" become what organized groups of scumbags who do transform themselves into governments call "criminals."
But their unsustainable hubris will ultimately be their undoing, of course. Unfortunately it will be ours, too since we collectively allowed things to get too far to fix before we began collectively realizing that our way of life is collectively suicidal.
No one bigger will save us, and that includes abstract constructs like "the government." And I'm an irrepressible optimist, no less (for example, when the government inevitably implodes I intend to seize control over the entire tri-County area near where I live with the help of my quickly-formed Apache-style milita of invisible hunter-gatherer scouts, for starters).

I intend to see what happens and act when it becomes apparent to act, always being wary of the gang known as, The Hypotheticals. They are shape shifters, and to try and get a step ahead of them is to succumb to their base strategy. They wield the super power of "what if?" If you get on their wavelength, it can make your head all hurty.
I guess if I were to endorse any manual for government, it would be the Tao Te Ching.

If Government follows the TAO...
And The TAO that can be described is not the TAO...
And That government that governs best, governs least...
Then the government that is based on the TAO is indescribable, and is almost non-existent.
Sounds good to me!
