Hello all, so it happened :( got a contamination on one of my jars. I have attached a picture and was just wondering if there is anything I can do to save the little guy! Or will the mycelium outrun this mold ? I have separated the jar from the others to stop the risk of it spreading, thanks guys would be lost without you !

Generally you don't want to try saving. The green part is spores. I'd suggest not opening in the house. I've played with growing stuff out, but I've also lost a ton of stuff to trich after playing with it.

You've done what you could. I would really suggest thinking about where that could have come from. Since it appears to have followed one of your injection holes, it either came from a dirty needle, dirty spore solution, or the hole is too exposed. Is your dry vermiculite layer thick enough? I can't tell, and the infection looks to be where I would leave a dry layer.

If I was guessing the needle had the green spores on it and were wiped off upon withdrawl.

Sad loss but a perfect picture of where the contamination started.

Toss it and move on.

I remember a thread not too long ago on this, but don't remember if the poster came back with good results or not!

I made a blue laser a few years ago from recycled blu-ray parts. The power was rather impressive for such a small laser diode.

Some people swear by them. I'm skeptical, but not certain.
