I received some bad bags from them recently. I'm fairly confident the grain was old. If that sounds like your issue then I agree with you. I had one bag not colonize, 2 sour grain, and the other three are ok. Hope that helps
Also I've used their spawn bags quite a few times and this is the first time it's happened. Mine were purchased end of june and inoculated immediately upon receiving them in mid july. Not bashing em but I wonder as well.

Thank you. I thought it may have been the needle being too hot, so I skipped that step altogether and just used alcohol to sterilize. Same results, no mycelium. Other than that I can’t think of the variables that would cause five unsuccessful attempts from different vendors

Inoculate The West (inoculatetheworld.com) has been my go to last couple orders. His stuff is the cleanest I've ever run, germinated super fast, and yielded well, even from spore.

I just received an order from Premium Spores.  Took a little over a week.  Mailed cash (I like to gamble IRL too) they emailed when they received the order and then did a follow up email when they mailed it, with tracking number.

highly recommend.  Will be testing out a syringe shortly.

My first two attempts were successful, I had Cambodian and then Golden Teachers. I've just burned through four bags of spawn with no mycelium and no contam. I'm certain that the B+ spores from SporeStore are the culprit. Has anyone else been burned with nonviable spores, costing big money in supplies and setting your hobby back? Michelle at SporeStore seems helpful, but I'm out 4 spawn bags and two syringes...she will replace the syringes (with more nonviable spores?) but not the spawn bags. Am I dealing with assholes?

It seems reasonable that, if the spawn bags were good, they shouldn't be replaced.  You certainly can't/shouldn't argue to SporeStore that your illegal mushroom project was ruined because of their syringes.  If no mycelium or any contam grew, then the bags are still good, no?  Do you have anything else that you could inoculate them with while you wait for replacement syringes?

Choosing a spore supplier shouldn't be too much of a hassle, but if you choose wrong you could be in for a ton of added expense and setbacks. I ordered a B+ syringe from a supplier I had used in the past successfully, inoculated two spawn bags from a trusted source, and two weeks later...nothing. No mycelium, no contam, nothing. I emailed and let them know. They said they would replace half the order (1 spore syringe). OK. I ordered 2 new spawn bags and yet another replacement syringe. Same process, same results. They sent me a third syringe, while I ordered 2 more spawn bags and a syringe from Premium Spores. I inoculated one bag with 5ccs of the first company's product, and the other with 5ccs of the Premium Spores. That bag produced mycelium galore, the other...nothing. I am out 5 spawn bags and the original order of one B+ syringe. My hobby has been set back six weeks. They have not answered my emails in some time.162193996661939071 (1).jpg

Maybe learn the process instead of relying on someone else's spores and grains.

Its been a while since i was able to attempt any type of spore related activities but recent changes in marriage status have opened a few doors in that department. I was just curious what peoples opinions are of the current spore vendors, most of which im completely unfamiliar with. I remember The Good Spore and Ralphsters as being top notch as far as price and quality are concerned. A few others had 5 for 25(spore syringes) pro-mos now and then. Maybe im mistaken or just looking in the wrong places but most of the names i remember dealing with are absent in todays market. Just curious as to who people are using these days. Also are there any notable changes in strains or techniques one should be aware of before getting back in the game. Eq and Gt are pretty much the extent of my spore selection. Never really had a need for anything else.....

Where might I find on this site, a list of currently recommended vendors? Doesn't seem obvious, to me after much looking, so I need help.

The thread about spore suppliers (Spore Suppliers, Reliable Spore Vendors, Trusted Vendors, Discuss here only)

is 21 pages, and not a simple list ( with possibly some  pros & cons).

It shows most of the votes going one way and I can vouch for that vendor. What are you looking for?

Sorry, I'm going to merge this thread with the vendor discussion.  It's the closest thing we have to a list of recommended vendors.

From the vendor discussion thread OP:

All new topics started related will be merged/move here with or without notice.

I deleted my vote and chose Sporeworks.

Times change especially after 30 years when PF was the go to!

I deleted my Ralphsters vote because they don't even bother returning an email.

Fortunately I don't use a vendor very often and am self reliant these days.

Unfortunately, Ralphsters used to be Solid, but hasn't been for a LONG Time.  Contaminated syringes(confirmed on WBS and Agar) and as stated Above, NO reply back to Emails.  My AA+ is from them, took 3 transfers to clean up the Flavus.  The other F+ syringe had Pin Mold and wasn't savable(I tried... can't save them all).  It's too bad really, I have a soft spot for Ralph since I bought my first syringe from them back in 08 or 09.  <Random Thought> Crazy to think my first Monotub was around 10 years ago... Thanks for the heads up on Ralphsters. I was going to order from sporeworks but felt upset, when they sent a an itemized copy of my order to me in an email ( which I consider to be very Insecure), & so did no complete it. Maybe I shouldn't worry?

Truly sad to see them go to hell in a hand basket!
Used to be one of the best and supported 'Topia for years.

RIP Ralphster!

No worries at all!

They even have a storefront and are running a perfectly legal business.

Trusted vendor for over 25 years or better.

You should have a secure email none the less.  It's hard to find one that doesn't require a phone number or link backwards to an account that eventually requires a phone number.

I like Proton Mail these days.
