Hey everybody. Gonna put some pans to agar this week sometime. Was planning to do it way sooner but life got in the way for a while so I just propgated some cubes for a bit because theyre more forgiving.

I should have a bunch of panaeolus photos to gaze on soon enough. :)

One of my PAN trays(hopefully... hahaha), I'll be prepping casing Saturday for the two trays and PAN Cinct Tub.  Day 20 (12 days on Grain, 7 full days mixed).  All looks healthy, just making sure she's nice and consolidated.  Saturday should be perfect and 22 Days from LC to fruiting.  I could of shave a day or two off of the timeframe, but I'm not worried about it and I was out of town so it is what it be.

P1100327.JPG

I grew some PANs many Moons ago and didn't save anything like

I used to do back in those days... just shooting spores and going for it and not

planning for the future(didn't care).  I wish I had pics, but I don't and they were average looking,

nothing special and weren't as big as they can be, but not as small as I've seen and

room for improvement.  Anyway, I'll keep at it as I am a stubborn SOB at times so I will win eventually.  All GOOD!

Here is the PAN Cinct, looks like little branches or something, I've never grown Cinct so this is all new to me.  Fast colonizer though, a day behind my other trays, but these were 2 jars of Oats to 4 sub(or 1 to 2 ratio).  The other trays are just under 1 to 2 with me saving a few grains back.  Both very fast colonizers and recover within a half of a day.

Experimental H Manure/Straw since I lay down straw every season for my veggie garden(multiple benefits).  Had some straw leftover so WHY Not.

Recovering fine just over 12 hours from Mixing.  Lately,

I like playing around with Mushies more than Cannabis.  I'm

stocked up well with both... SO maybe that's the reason.

Well... I have a couple of PINs from the Cinct Tub, Wow... 3.5 days from casing on Friday Night.  I don't have any experience with this strain so WE shall see.

Well ya'll, I had it out with my Source, I was professional about it, but he lost his mind so I had to give it to em' STRAIGHT UP.  This is what happens when two personalities have authority issues and I'm on the spectrum of not giving AF about growing, and he's MR. SERIOUS.  Long story short, he's a POSER wanna be and a legend in his own mind.  He doesn't know that I tracked him to a REDDIT account(and others) and know he's a JOKE.  Regardless, it was time to move on, he's doing other shady shit that I don't want ANYTHING to do with.

Ok, for the update, the PAN Cincts are straight Cubes, so I have an Unknown Cube which I hate not knowing what it is(Pet Peeve).  Also, the PAN is not a PAN, it looks to be Tampanensis, which is fine, I have passion for ALL mushrooms, but when you purchase something, you have a certain expectation of the end product... and this just isn't IT.

Awhile back his PAN Florida turned into PE6 mutants.... and also sent a trich'd out PE syringe verified on grain(1 jar I know better) on AGAR(AGAR twice to prove a point to him... sent him a pic 3 days later).  So that's my story folks, the struggle for PANS is REAL.  I have an Estero(almost finished on Oats) and TX from him, but I have NO expectations at this point.  The price I pay to play with Exotics...  For the LUV of Mush

These guys are absolute beasts. Never had fruits that were so dense. Printing these now and will be cloning later.

I am on my second attempt to cultivate Panaeolus and I seem to be doing something incorrectly. This is a batch of Panaeolus Peace River, spawned on hard red wheat berries and mixed with a cpoo-verm-coir-gypsum bulk substrate that was pasteurized at field capacity at 165 degrees for 90 minutes. Mixture was 1 part spawn to 2 parts bulk substrate.

I have had the substrate in 8.5" x 6" x 2" deep microwavable food containers in the incubator at approx 78-80 degrees since August 13, so 8 days now.

There are 4 containers, and one of them has contaminated with a bright green growth. The others have cottony growth and I don't know if it is healthy growth or not. I now have the pans covered in aluminum foil with several tiny holes in the top for ae.

Contaminated container (eek): IMG_2184.jpeg

Colonizing sluggish or complete? IMG_2189.jpeg   IMG_2190.jpeg

Does the mycelial growth look legit? At 8 days of incubation should I now case the substrate or is the mycelial growth still not adequate?

Thank you for your counsel. I have read a great deal about cultivating Pans but I think I am off the mark somehow and not doing something correctly.

All of my subs contain a good deal of straw and never coir. That stuff looks a little dense. Might be why it is going so slow.

Ah, I can see what you mean by it being too dense. I used a recipe that I found that someone had developed specifically for Pans: 50% aged cow manure, 30% verm, 15% coir and 5% gypsum.  What may I ask is your recipe for Pan bulk substrates?

I'm lazy these days. I find it easy to use 65-70% straw, 25-30% hpoo by volume...then add verm after "until it feels right". There's a lot of give in this approach but it works.

60-70% straw, 20% horse & alpaca poo, 5-10% coir, verm til fluffy. Not exact just kinda go for brown hay with coir-verm til right.

Been playing with it in outside beds and they've been holding moisture so much better then straight hay+poo. Dumped 100+ prints in it to see if they will grow, but i'm well outside cube and pan ranges.

Thank you Asura and Rocky, that is great information. Asura once I have created a liquid culture from a successful Pan grow I intend to try your spawn bag grow process. Do you find the need for gypsum in your substrate? I didn't see it in your recipe.

I haven't been using the liquid culture for awhile now. I've been experimenting with more low effort approaches. Hopefully it will lead to something worth a write up.
