I think maybe there may be a correlation to light and cap size or maybe it was just my genetics but if you look at the natural habitat of panaeolus how it grows in wide open fields with lots of air and light it kinda makes sense. I do I know that I was using one 6500k light at first and getting pretty small caps, then I switched to three 6500k and was getting 1.25in caps so I think maybe that or maybe just the genetics was the reason.

God knows I have enough light! Here’s what my FC looks like right now, and the one Jambo tray that’s fruiting since I’m posting. The other has done nothing... which is par for the course, but I’m giving it a bit longer. I know they weren’t 100% when incased them and put them to fruit.

Harvested most everything. There were a lot new pins trying I left. Hopefully the second tray starts. This is where I ended up. I was told the Pan Cambo Jambo was the easiest Pan to grow. That may be true. I am printing, trying some clones I have low hopes for and just did direct to agar swabs. This variety is a winner.

I also realized that the last Pan I got confused on was a Pan Cyan labeled as west Texas which makes absolutely no sense since west Texas is a desert, but whatever, I made 5 t2 from the clone of a large fruit of that as well. Lots of pans on agar right now, an LC I have little confidence in, Plus the trays in the FC

The rain euc did look stranger than the normal domesticated strains I tried. Maybe because it’s fairly new with more wild genetics. Looking good though coastal

Hey guys, I been gone a long time! I'm back and will have some things going soon as possible. I'm going from some quistionable probably very dirty prints to a ton of agar to hopefully get atleast one I can transfer from. I had saved a bunch of agar plates in storage but they all dried out and its been a year I dont expect anything to work out from that lol.

Anyways tho im supsr psyched to be back, if anyone feeling generous msg me I miss my pans got the joc style martha set up already :D

I’ve had good results with sand in my casing for pans. But I think I want to try to use less this next time. Not so heavy. Maybe 1/4 or even less.

I use COIR/verm/playground sand (1/1/.25) and sterilize in 250F oven for 60min. Works OK so far, for my environment.

I’ve been hearing so much about sterilizing casing lately I’m going to give it a try for sub. Occasionally I have the issue where everything looks perfect until the tub is fully colonized and looks just about ready to go to fruiting and then it contams

I have quit sterilizing here lately and I'm having better luck and it's soooo much less work.  It's still not ideal, but I've just been busy and have a lot of things growing.  I'm using the 4 cup meal prep containers, the casing I used for Mexicana was 6:1:1 peat:sand:verm+1tsp of pickling lime per cup of peat, I hydrate it all, put a container in the microwave for 3-4 minutes depending on how much I packed it and what the IR gun says, meanwhile I preheat the oven to the lowest temp which is 170, I put the whole container lid still sealed in the oven and after a bit turn off the oven and just let it cool in there.  It's a real short high temp pasteurization, but I have had MUCH better luck with this.  I do my pan sub the exact same way which is just straw and horse manure roughly even by volume.  Nothing fancy.

Thats interesting Jrot. I put sub of h. Shit and hay. Turkey tin in t he oven with a digital probe inside and I usually keep the temp between 160 and 180 min/max for 2 houra atleast. It has worked really well. Now see I do my casing the same way and it has contaminated in second flush twice but i thibk it was that my humidity was on to long and to often because it tam'd right where the humidity first touches down both times.

Any insight fellas?

Is there an ideal time to pick pans? It’s kind of crazy how heavy these tiny things alorulatw.

I’ve heard 30 mins a PC for casing. I’m gonna give that a try for the hell of it after issues with pasteurized casing.

I have to apologize for not proofreading better. Anyways, on the Jambo tray that hasn’t done much, this happened. Two stipes, one cap. Proving Pan Cambo are for lovers!

They really are super heavy when fresh but turn into absolutely nothing. I even had several five gram pan cyans fresh when picked and dry turned into like .25 or maaayyybee .50 but I cant remember that well. I just remember having these two shoebox lid trays with pans stacked like five or six inches high puting a little heater pointed at it shuffled it up over the night and being so dissapointed with how little was there lol but theyre so worth it. Its my favorite.

Even if I end up doing mostly cubes sometimes I'm always gonna jave some pans that I wont share except for special occasions.
