Verus risk of contamination?
First time grower questions

Should a guy be picking off the mushrooms as the veils break. or just wait a day or two for them all to mature? They say this reduces potency if left to produce spores? I guess i am wondering how diligently should these ready mushrooms be harvested
Once you reach this stage, contamination isn't really an issue... I still try to be clean, but there are some experienced growers that pretty much have their subs exposed to the open air... Contamination is a factor prior to mixing with your pasteurized substrate. I usually pull the big ones and then wait for the little ones to finish up, but to be completely honest, when the big ones open... The small ones are really RIGHT behind them....

Sounds like I will harvest later today or tonight for sure. Looks like they are popping by the hour at this point

This site sure likes Coco. They claim high nutritional value for growing plants. As the coconut is a seed itself. I suppose that makes sense
Realized I purchased some of the larger grain vermiculite. I cant really think of an easy way to chop it up. Or will it work as well as the fine grind stuff?

Also I am trying to figure out how much grain spawn i should inoculate for my next grow attempt? With a ratio of 650g brick of coco and 260 g of vermiculite. That equals roughly 2 lbs of dry substrate. I believe the original kit came with a ready made 3 lbs grain spawn in it. So 1:1 would be okay with a 2 lb bag?

I dd thanks for the advice. Ya they were in a big cluster, almost came off as one big multi mushroom. I peeled them apart for drying

Does this look like contamination. almost looks like cobweb growing over the mushrooms. I have no clue

I am around three days after a second dunk. Growth appears to have slowed down. I think I have a handle on the fuzzy feet versus contamination. However there are a couple suspicious characters appearing to stall out and go white. I picked the small white one, completely covered in a while film. Felt normal. Does my sub look okay? First time the white has completely covered a mushroom

They are still kicking strong, starting to see what you mean about the contamination not being an issue. All the suspicious spots, yellow, slightly greenish have not spread at all. Guessing the little white covered mushroooms were just rotting aborts. Sorry for the shit pic
