So with the recent move to grain and dubtubs, I am looking into setting up a little more of a stealth operation. Partially due to some family coming to visit soon, and partially due to wanting the beautiful flushes standing straight up. It also seems silly to not take advantage of any benefits I can.
I had initially looked into setting up lighting but decided to wait on it. This may have been due to reading some not so accurate info. This was also recently brought to my attention when I regurgitated some info and it was corrected by a more experienced member. It wasn’t intended as a snipe but it made me realize that maybe I needed to delve further into the subject matter.
So back to the lighting. I have read about the benefits of actinic lighting and have also read that anything over 6500k can be beneficial also. I am trying to get feedback from experienced members before investing in a set up.
I recently found an aquarium light that has both it’s not cheap by any means though.
I would love any feedback from members with experience with either, or both types.

For the price, I would be willing to check out this one. If you get it, let me know how hot it gets? I'm also thinking if the mushrooms don't like it then my cactus will.

You can add a $2 plug to this and solder it on, literally a $12 light saber lol. I have a huge pile of fancy stuff that costs lots of money sitting in the garage not even being used. Every neophyte goes through the stage so I don't push it much anymore and just let folks do there thing. But this light is still overkill for what you need. You could have two of these in the room and be good.https://www.homedepo...321-2/308086233

I’m trying my hardest to not go overboard here. I feel like I’ve done pretty well so far on this journey. Hell I was ready to try and set up a Martha before my first jar colonized.
I don’t know how you vets deal with us when we’re brand brand new. I do commend you guys’ patience though

Would it help if I said I don't even give lighting a second thought? I have some cheap ass led light in my fruiting room. And on my racks where I fruit shoeboxes I have some

more cheap led shop lights that are like 5000K or something. It's all working out. Save your money and put it into the flow hood fund

Super valid point. I don’t even want to think about that cost right now. I did end up with just going with led strip lights.

That’s definitely not overkill. That bulb will work perfect. Barely gets warm. And you can get that bulb in 6500k bright white. I have a 24in florescent in my tent and it only gets warm to the touch. You could put your fuckin face on it and it would feel nice lol. Along with an Agro 6500k grow bulb and 2 led 6500k corn bulbs. Set on a 12/12 light cycle. Any of those bulbs are only 5-10 bucks. As long as your in the correct spectrum and the lights aren’t changing the temps all crazy put as many as you want lol. 9415c50f463734380f1328545dff6002.jpg

I have more when the tent is full. Now with fluorescents and led you can reap all the spectrum benefits without having to transfer heat.

Although lots of light isn’t necessary when it comes to pinning and fruiting. It really all comes down to oxygen and evaporation as the biggest triggers. I have found a ton of light only puts the icing on the cake as long as the others are dialed in.

I get better flushes with lots of 6500k lighting.

I also use an intake and exhaust fan connected to a temp control that doesn’t allow the tent to fluctuate within a degree of 75°. Always providing fresh o2 to the tent.

Damn I’m fucking rambling.......... Get the lights homie !!! You won’t be disappointed

I just went with led strip lights for now. I most likely will upgrade in the future when I expand my space a little. Trying to close off this little nook for now. About to cut the shelf tomorrow. 3bcb50c7181ee9c7b305848154e6b898.jpg

So here is my current solution. At least until my brain plays the “I need more” game that it loves so much. I plan on installing a shelf in the next day or two. Most likely bisecting that height.

It’s a 6qt “shoebox”
Many places have them cheap depending if you’re in the states. Walmart is where I got mine but you can nab them at a dollar store. Walmart was actually under a dollar at the time.
