I spread out cube spores across seven plates to get this one single point of growth.

200_9278.JPG

What I got is now 21mm, showing no sectoring, no rhizomorphic growth or straight radial growth and looks like steel wool. Really, it looks like Pan mycelium.

If its monokaryotic I guess I'll need to pour another 7 plates

But I certainly wouldn't mind

I think I got this Pan cyan down to just a few sectors.

Of course, if one of the isolates is worth saving I'll have to name it Pacman

Looking good Elrik!

To get back at my last pictures, I now know why that plate went into fruiting so quickly, and soon after went grey.. Trich! I just checked on it, took it from the fridge and saw that there was nothing left of the mycelium, all there was was a green/grey mess. It smells like coconut.

Luckily I saved it.

Trying this out for cooling down my pressure cooker, read it in McKenna's Psilocybin Grow Guide. Put a wet and clean cloth over the lid and inlets to act as a filter of some kind. May be unnecessary but I like the idea!

Have 7 jars prepped with rye, first time I did it right, I hope. Made the switch back from popcorn to rye for the extra nutrition and number of inoculation points when going to bulk. 3 jars will be Colombian strain, 3 jars B+ (both from clean LCs) and I will do 1 test jar from an agar plate with Marasmius Oreades.. Fingers crossed.

Haven't even slept yet, I'm a mess. Still got to inoculating it all. Have been ordering my meat online lately and this is delivered in nice styrofoam boxes, nice for 'incubation'. I figured it keeps temps more stable.

And now I'm done with spamming this thread. Next picture only of something fungi.

I've been playing around with Ps. cubensis on large cakes with weird compositions. This one is shredded newspaper, whole wheat flour, popcorn, and water (2 : 2/3 : 1/3 : 1 by volume).

resized001.jpg

This one is shredded newspaper mixed with pureed kitchen waste (vegetable trimmings and chickpea hulls), with water added until it felt right.

resized002.jpg

This one came out too dense, whoops! Thinking I'm going to let it finish colonizing before I open it to pick the mushrooms.

resized003.jpg resized004.jpg

These are all in plastic quart jars.

Harvested my first mono flush of Golden Teachers two days ago. Definitely room for improvement but I'm happy with my results so far. 5ece492e3825977a5b66b0750445c40f.jpg7c68a5ce0947b08bdd80612d24563d0c.jpg

What Tek did you follow? Or is this an experiment? I think it's pretty cool! I'm too new and scared to take my experimentation that far. Maybe one day.

Nice! That's still a decent amount for a flush.

Buzz: the worst that can go wrong is wasted time and substrate. The stakes are low, no one will be hurt by the failure. In this case I'm thinking of it like PF cakes, where the vermiculite holds water and gives structure, and the rice flour is the nutrition - for this, the paper holds some water, the popcorn gives structure, and everything is digestible to Ps. cubensis. I did small cakes like this successfully, so I wanted to see how big I could go.

I think it's good to follow "teks" if you want guaranteed success, but I think the principles of growing mushrooms are not necessarily very complicated and a lot of different approaches can succeed if done with care.

Didn’t really get a good pic of the cap I realize, there’s like three or four more around that size but not quite. I could have let it go a while longer but I couldn’t keep the dub tub top on with it in so I took it out to keep the others from drying out

Thank you! I actually seen hyphaenation reply to a post about bottom watering so I gave it a shot and this happened! Also, I tried it on another dub tub that was much further along and looking dry as shit but made a mistake of leaving the top off thinking it will be fine. They dried out and bruised a bit, I just said screw it and chopped em. Next time I’ll know better. They were so dried out leaving the lid off did em in, but I’m just excited for the next flush no biggy really.
