That little shroom looks like the kraken tentacles coming up from the depths. At least in my eyes.

Also has anyone ever thought/seen of getting a tattoo of mycelium? Be a pretty dope tattoo.

Ran into a streak of forgetting to pick then at the right times
I have verm I planned to case and patch with.
What do you guys think?

To stay in line with TabbyBoy's little cluster..

A nice tiny cluster.

PSX_20200218_003215.jpg

Came off of this second flush of B+ - have never gotten a reasonably sized fruit with these genetics. The sub is fairly thin though. Nevertheless, I am quite happy with how this is going.

Last money shots of 2 PE tubs.. she said she got 3.5oz from 3 quarts
05525F0A-1CBE-4348-A4C3-BEE1C7E3F2CF.jpeg
53A8DAA9-FF74-417D-81CC-346C330D41C3.jpeg

I don’t really want to make a thread about these so I’ll just put details here. The key to getting PE to fruit out not in blobs is to use at least a 1:2 grain to bulk ratio, if not a 1:3... for whatever reason PE fruits better away from a high nute source. Also, PE will fruit normally when you use a thick 50/50 peat/verm casing. I’ll tell you the steps that I walked my friend through to get those tubs.

First the tub...

2B98C8BB-47E8-4DCD-ACD6-514914EB5DE5.jpeg

It’s 6x11x16 (at the top) and as you can see, there 1/16” holes drilled every 2” or so in two rows just like in the pic. PE sits for a good amount of time from spawn to fruit and when using a peat based casing, you have to make sure there’s plenty of FAE or you risk the mean green. 6” is plenty high enough for PE. For these tubs she used 1.5 quarts of rye to 3 quarts of CV (she said she’s going to use 2 quarts rye to 4 quarts CV on the next tubs to see if there’s a noticeable difference.) and she used a liner... I would highly suggest using a liner with PE.

Once the tub is made, wait until the sub is 100% colonized (didn’t take more than 5 days and no need to consolidate) and case with 50/50 (she used pasteurized jiffy mix) at a 1/2”

Make sure you lightly mist the peat casing once every couple days as peat dried out pretty fast... even every day if it is called for but you don’t want it muddy... just moist.

Once the casing is colonized, recase again but only at 1/8-1/4”

Patch thinly as needed from that point on keeping up with the mistings.

Knotting should start happening after 10-14 days and your casing will probably end up being close to an inch thick. Once pins show up, stop misting. About half way into fruiting your casing will start turning blue, that’s how you know when to pull the sides of the liner away from the sub and add enough water (bottom watering) so that most, if not all, your pins mature and don’t abort.. probably about a 1/4 cup on the long sides.. this REALLY helps.

Her lighting is pretty poor
F4BE88FC-9C04-496B-8355-BBB0AEFE3742.jpeg
And she still got a decent pin set
I told her that if she got something more along the lines of this https://www.amazon.c...t5 integ&sr=8-3 she’d probably get an even better pin set... which she has done so we will see if there’s an improvement in a couple few weeks

I’m writing all this because I read on here somewhere that ppl were saying PE is not worth doing anymore because all it does is blob.. I guarantee that if you follow these ^^^ steps, you’ll get normal PE fruits. Theses are a clone and obviously you’ll get more consistent results but MS PE will fruit with those steps as well

:)

I'm a little bit unsure of what I'm looking at, but I believe this is Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata trying to fruit in vitro. This is agar -> wood chips, paper, chickpea hulls, and sawdust. It was colonizing at room temperature (60-65F) for a while, and then I moved it into an incubator with a light that's been fluctuating from 75-80F. I think the green is bruising or something and not contamination.
