Very nice Tabby! Is that the Hualtala de Jimenez? Have you sampled the fruits? How are they going and what is your favorite so far.

I'm over here wishing you the best for your PESH trial :) It has been a consistently good strain for me as it somehow seldomely contaminates even though all the other strains have been contaminated recently. Must be old spore syringes.

If i can see the rye germ out of the grains, does that mean they're overcooked?

Yes you can colonize your spawn in the same area. Just be sure while the spawn is running, it's kept in the dark.

Yeppers, if it's sprouted it's over done my friend

Peace

@Tabby: to avoid the rye grain sprouting do a 24 hour soak starting out with real hot water, this should sterilize them for the most part. A few grains can still sprout, but most of em will be good. It does not mean overcooked, just that they started sprouting as soon as they were introduced to water.

When I soak I change the hot water once it has cooled down a bit with more hot water to be safe, this rinses them too. If you want to keep the temperatures up for longer use a lot of water and lid. I lock the lid on my PC in which I soak my rye

Don't know if they all sprouted in your case, but you could still use them if you want, only the germination of the rye consumes a lot of the nutrients, so your yield would be significantly less. Better to toss them and start over.

About your grow: not sure if that looks right to me but might be lighting issues with the picture itself. I'm thinking contam.

If the issue is nutrients, would it help to use a 2:1 instead of 1:1?
I've already inoculated.
I only saw a couple of the grains were opened up a tad and I could see inside of them, not all of them though.
Just made a 2 g shroom omelette,
Itll take a minute to set in but that's okay, bout to eat it then take some Lucy as well.
Happy travels!

I've got a couple extra sub bags I was thinking of using to experiment with growing in a bucket like I've seen here before.
Add some verm to case, and using 2 sub bags to 1 grain could that help with moisture and nutrients?

So ive checked on my colonizing bags and the PESH have only barely colonized, i think it could be due to the fact that i split the one syringe up into the 3 bags of PESH.

The PF Classic has colonized pretty well, Those 2 bags have gotten half a syringe each. I'm gonna go ahead and take some pics after i get back from taking my dogs to get groomed and yall can help me to tell if they're ready to be mixed up or not.

Ignore the cat, she couldn't resist the urge when I opened it to take a pic.
Just got 2 of these tubs!
I have 4 extra substrate bags. So I have 5 grain bags and 9 subs.
I was thinking, use 1 grain bag for each both the PESH (other ones PF classic) and
2 sub bags for a total of 3 pounds each tub.
I dont want to go above 3 or so inches..
That will leave me with 1 PESH and 2 PF classic bags that I can grow invitro.
Thoughts? 6488de8693ebe6adce331e6637e972a0.jpg7df300e2deb43a90cbfb798b5379c6a5.jpg

I would very much like to spawn today, But i dont know which tek to use!

Ive seen some people incubate the tub before exposing to fruiting conditions, But i dont know!

Anyone have a good tek to show me?

Hello Tabby :D Glad to see your progress thus far. Do you know that variety of mushroom is in the posted picture?

I would recommend the rotisserie tek and a bulk substraight. If you are looking to make bulk substraight then 50:50 coir:verm is a great route. This bulk can be made in a bukket or oven.

I do variations of the rotisserie tek with great results, One of my rotisseries made it as a contender for picture of the month this month! When doing a rotisserie tek a 1:1 ratio of bulk spawn to grain is best because of your time constraint ;), This way spawn run will go a little bit faster. Seeing you have a good amount of grain spawn you can get a few trays done this way.

For rotisserie tek, one doesn't need a rotisserie container, a miniature dub-tub made from plastic containers works fine. You can also get those plastic quart deli containers as a fruiting chamber.

After thinking through it you should be able to get nice and fun cultivation time with any container type. But I still would recomend to do multiple trays or containers just to be safe :)

PS. If you are not meat eater perhaps you can do a dub tub with plastic containers?

If anyone reading knows ways to purchase rotessorie containers without included chicken lmk
