Nice job Arch3type!

Here is a tub that went into a shoebox dub on 10/14 and is starting to pin. I think I'm going to hook a aquarium pump set up to it for some FAE. I used Don Shadow's suplemented recipe but subbed powdered chicken feed for the oat bran. Don's awesome thread may be found here.

Hey all, just popping in to say hello and share a few pictures of a recent Ps. semperviva grow. I hope all's well!

This was grown in a martha greenhouse using the following substrate:

- 275g dry coir
- 50ml used coffee grounds

- 50ml rye grass seed
- 100ml grain flour or bran
- 100ml clean dry sand
- 25ml gypsum
- 25ml Calcium carbonate or CaCO3
- Approximately 1200ml reverse osmosis or distilled water

Fills about 4 quart jars packed loosely, or one 14A mycobag

Casing was 50:50 peat/verm with a little bit of sand and a generous amount of CaO3.

Now I remember why I saved all these coffee grounds  and bought RGS. Sweet just shook a few jars of semp and recovering pretty quickly.

I take it consolidation/fruiting is the longest part of the process?

Awesome Don, that's a form I'm searching for!

Here's some more of my tub. It turns out I harvested a few for prints way too early. I can see spores dropping now though, so the whole tub is getting cropped later.8bbac0aaef82234a7c91503e8da7e6fa.jpga3dbb0fc36954f20591fd0b5a35bf309.jpg

ItBeBasidia, that is legendary work, well done!

Semperviva is a very fast and aggressive colonizer. Pinning can take awhile depending on how long the tray is incubated and the fruiting environment. I unintentionally incubated my tray for about 20 days, which is about a week longer than I normally would, and to my surprise it started fruiting about two days after I placed it in the martha (pins usually take two weeks!). The fruits themselves are slower growing than say, cubensis, maybe pin to spore in 10-14 days in my experience, a little faster maybe if the temperature is high. Still, every time I grow mushrooms I see them do things that I didn't expect. The tray was incubated at 77F and fruited around 75F.

Here's a lineup of semps I'm waiting to colonize. The one colonized bag is probably about 1-2 weeks old. I haven't had a chance to fruit it. Just cleaned the tent and finished up gourmets so will start dialing it in as I prep a casing.

1/2-1/4" casing? I think I'll go on the thick side as I dry out quickly.

I spawned 2 more today and they smelled absolutely amazing the classic psilo smell but a lot sweeter and nicer then cubes. Not quite woody sweet. I don't even know how to begin to describe myc smells, but you know if you know...

Still waiting...Queue Talking Heads or Phish.

Only cased one is reaching for casing. Still waiting on a few spots to fully colonize in other 2 bags. Made my casing a week ago.

Alright I'll admit I don't know WTF I'm doing. Plan was to see pins in the bag and introduce FAE. Now I'm at a point I'm thinking I'll need to cut an X like gourmets to introduce air.
Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Guess I should make some substrate. I took a big gamble and cut my Semp print and sent it all across the globe. Hopefully the semps respond and bless me with prints.

Can't wait to smell this spawn again, think it's one of my favorites. Beside gourmets obviously.

Here's a mutant pic.

I've had about 5 experiences with semperviva and they sure are different. I find them to be very potent but with a pronounced narcotic effect that I haven't felt from other species. They seem more potent then my pan cyans, but that narcotic effect is definitely something else. 9f8750fe6138c034bd527e58d4bb34a0.jpg

Thought I'd share this observation.

I've got tampanensis and cubensis growing right next to my sempervivas and the tamps and cubes recently got infested with fungus gnats. Aside from one or two exploring and accidentally getting inside the tub, the gnats will not touch my semps.

My semps so far have been doing nothing. Then started smelling off. Threw them outside in a cloth bag with manure, which froze. We'll see.

Have 2 other bags basically colonized. Just trying to visualize trays or tubs for the fruiting.

Cased a bag. Waiting on the other bag to consolidate a bit more.

Pre-cased, it's just ok. Not thinking this is a good culture. This is the only culture from a past contributor here that wasn't trich.

Print was cut into 4ths and sent to some highly capable exotic growers. They've been working with a very aggressive culture so waiting on that.

Returned from Hoog-cosmos. I don't publish trips, but I will share my feelings. A very strong and kind mushroom. Two dry grams was a lot-god do not grieve! Stronger than any, but more sedative. For flying on the couch and inner experiences. Moving vertically is a bit difficult. Colorful visual, or even 5d cinema, the entrance is absolutely invisible, the exit is clean as a tear, there is an interesting effect similar to MDMA-kindness, love and purity. The mushroom has gone very far. I strongly advise you for new sensations! Later I will try to mix with the pan.

Happy to see a few pins. I just need a clone and prints.

This was a patience tester. Especially seeing elsewhere people spawn and fruit in normal times.

Hopefully I can find something more vigorous. This was about a year project I would say.
Spawned a bunch more. This whole time I thought I had a gray mold.

Yay!!! Pins!! They're exceptionally cool when the journey has been challenging. If you get one print you should try for 2 (hint hint)
