Thanks Yoshi!  Learning curve and patience. I'll get the fruits I want - Eventually.

 

Yes - I have a jar of Cocoa Nibs colonizing ever so slowly with semperviva, it should be ready to eat in a couple months. I'm going to slice it (hopefully it doesn't crumble when I try) and dehydrate it, have some Myceliated Cocoa Nib Chips. I mean SLOWLY. It is colonizing at half the speed it does on grain. 

 

As for substrate for the fruiting block, it was 50%horse manure compost, 50% Coir and a pinch of Gypsum. Cased with a Coir/Verm mix.

Cocoa nibs?! That is actually pretty cool! Theobromine and caffeine have noticeable effect on our trips. I wonder if mixing the nibs with brown rice or something might make the mycelium move a little faster? Please let us know how this goes!

i buy  course ground coco nibs from www.Nuts.com

i bet that might be   something to expirment with ,

right now i justake hepping tsp of the coco nib and chew it ..

i buy other tasty snacks from NUTS like dried fruit .. sugar free chacolote coverd  coffee beans .. and wacky ingrediants  foe hippy 3 style cakes like powderd kelp ,bee pollen ect .........................eeerr  etc.

Colonization stalled out  - it did not fully consume the cocoa nibs. Either my LC is contaminated, or I didn't sterilize the cocoa nibs properly.  I'm going to try again eventually. just have to work up the motivation to play with agar and start a new culture.

i liked YoshiTrainers idea for you  . to add like 20% brown rice ....You could do a few jars with just the nibs and a cpl with brown rice . to compare progress ...

Just  an ideas ....it's your project . keep us posted  Good luck .

Harvested a bag last night, not as pretty as a shoebox grow but not bad. This one was on CV, I have another on straw/compost/Wpoo that I'll harvest tomorrow night. I think if I'd given them some strong lighting they'd look better.

Jan last year I started a hoog project, made LC and put it up. Pulling it back out later today and putting it to work

Nice job on that bag Yoshi. I had a few bags going in the summer and to my surprise they pushed out a ton of fruits over a period of about six months. Not big yields on each flush, but they all flushed around 15 times, so the yield was pretty great considering how potent they are, and how little effort I put in.
