I don't think its that you got dwarf teachers... it takes two spores to grow a mushroom... It may just so happen that the genetic cake you baked that run had smaller genetics but the same set of spores could just as easily bake a different, larger cake teh next time around.
What I think really caused your smaller mushrooms i the substrate you used. Coir and Verm provide no additional nutrients like hpoo would. I have always found that coir/verm only substrate produce smaller fruits...

First flush of APE is usually very small fruits and aborts. Harvest once the caps start to curl up. The second flush will give you much larger fruits.
You can let APE go longer than other species. With most, you want to harvest right before the veil breaks. Since APE rarely produces spores, let it go another few days after the veil breaks. They will get larger. APE is a hybrid that could not survive in nature.
