If the cake had brown crust I would have mistaken those for shiitake pins. If those are infected with Wet bubble (mycogone) it may be difficult to get you area clean again. CattyMcBats has some stories and threads about how long it took him to get from from it.

Well sort of. My thread on the subject is posted above on the thread already. In that particular case, I was mistaken, it was just how the oysters pinned.

I have however spotted mycogone perniciosa on a colony or two in my day but luckily caught it in time. The problem with it is that it is extremely prolific in spreading its spores and they can lay dormant for about a year, not only that, but they have two different spore types, one being hardier than the other. Keep in mind, all of that info is from memory, so forgive me if I made a mistake.

I'm saying that you most likely have a persistent infection that will require some serious attention to sanitizing your area. Wet bubble will infect future grows. Dry bubble is just as persistent but not nearly as devastating to fruiting yields.

Ayooo when do you think i should pick these? well better question is does the veil look like it’s gunna break soon? my other strain burma did not have a veil like this at all... my burma didn’t really have a veil at all if i think about it. It prolly did but not as noticeable.. Anyways this is really cool to see. and i’m only talking about the big one. the others aren’t even ready yet.

The veil hasn't been formed yet.  The edges of that cap will start to pull away from the stem and you'll see the veil underneath.  Actually, you might be seeing it as of this morning.

going to need a bit more reasoning to agree with that. I sent a picture to the guy who sent me the spores. the vendor so i’ll see what he thinks since he know what they should look like and played with this strain.

Woof, as a vendor I would definitely not want to receive pics of grows.  The only legal uses for magic mushroom spores are microscopy, study, research, collection, etc.  As soon as they're used or (sometimes) even intended for cultivation, that's when you can catch a case.  If I were trying to bust a vendor, I would send pics of grows and get them to talk about cultivation.

Anywho, those pins do look a little off to me too but I would still totally eat them.  I'm interested to see how they grow from here.

update. oh! do you think it’s worth it collecting a print from one of these caps? Someone told me not get a print because they look suspect and had all that white stuff on it the pins. and my work station might be contaminated but it kinda looks like picture how it should grow? Lol i don’t want to be stubborn and say ima do it and take the 1% chance it might work cause i’m not seeing the problem. but if it’s looks good to everyone else and not to suspect then i’m game.

Those look fine to me.  They're not Victoria's Secret models, maybe, but I don't see anything that would keep me from trying to take a print if I wanted prints.  If you think your workstation is contaminated you should definitely take care of that first.  You want everything to be very clean when you're taking prints.

Those look good! Maybe just a little too much humidity causing those funky caps but either than that, very nice work!

May have been the lighting, because while the caps are darker they look more healthy in the last picture posted. I always tend to err on the side of caution in general, and based of some of the things I've seen growing in my projects, makes me worried to eat stuff that I think could be infected. Some contams could be more innocuous, and others can get you really sick. I'm not a doctor or a professional micro biologist so I just don't even bother if it looks different

What strain are those? They definitely have a distinct look to them, infected or not.

My one and only grow went through a colour change. The first flush the caps were a nice light golden brown. The second one produced darker caps and I was concerned about aborts. They however grew just fine like yours

Here is the colour difference on the first pic in this thread

https://mycotopia.ne...ower-questions/

Not sure if it matters but I did increase humidity from first to second flush, could this be a reason for the darker caps we see?
