I had some extra substrate left over after my last spawn day, and I froze it.

Is the best procedure to let it thaw completely, and then shake to redistribute the moisture. How soon should you use it after thawing?

Or is there a preferred method?

Well I let it thaw overnight, and get well into room temperature leaving it sealed. I then shook it up several times to redistribute the moisture. Which worked really well.

I did not pasteurize it again, and I am not sure how that will effect things to be completely honest. We shall see!

I had an extra test quart of spawn, and mixed it with around 1.5 quarts of the previously frozen spawn.

I have more jars coming along and another 4qts bagged and frozen. So I want to see how this goes first.
