So I've been wanting to make a post about my lophophora collection.

So I decided I would do a running grow log as well as document my successes and failures with all the lophophora species and varieties I have in my collection.

Right now I am starting some seeds and plan to accelerate the propagation speed with the tools and equipment I currently have at my disposal. I am hoping that this thread will motivate me to continue the absolute metric fuck ton of work I have to complete in my cactus room.

Here is my current project, I look forward to sharing my current process.

a97b02c46f974a4189251be2d7d15ac4.jpg

I'm doing a 24 hour soak in distilled water. I've never done a soak before, I usually just sow them dry. I've decided to soak these though, because they are close to 6 months old. Hopefully this will help them out a bit.

I also have some bridgesii seeds I want to polish off, can never have to many Trichocereus. I plan to do a separate thread with Trichocereus varietys but that is for another time cause I am lot less knowledgeable with San Pedro's but am currently practicing.

That's quite a collection. Do you know if the seeds are as described?

Anyhow, good luck growing. Do you have any dormancy breaking stuff? Sprays etc?

Ambitious project you have. I'm sure everybody knows it anyway: Cover your seeds only with a very thin layer of whatever you chose as a substrate. They need light for germination. Good luck!

Ok here is my process, things are a mess right now because I took a boomer pregnant chocolate and forgot I had this on my plate so I'm just trying to knock this out.

70fa4efe28d33129766fdbf7edfe911d.jpg

I use these disposable trays for my seed germination but they get moved to clay pots later on

I fill with coco coir, cacti seedling dirt mix(I made), and coarse river sand
34d9aab5c7b1694d78c6c1e4069fbf51.jpg
I then mix it up and spray it with distilled water
c59a8cc3814f45a64b9887250201bb5d.jpg

The next step is to administer the seeds, I just pick them up and drop them in. If they are to close the the sides of the tray I'll adjust them. Also to answer the concerns about the strains, yes they are accurate I am a conservationist. All my samples are from colleges, friends, and most of all....myself.
cc5c74454d6ec59df96133e9be1d751a.jpg

I then cover with a light layer of coarse sand to help give then some stability and cover. Plus it helps with the humidity.
b849f13f567106b42ead0ecca93d0ab9.jpg
I spray it all down, cover with the lid + label the lid, and put it under a grow light.

Here are some pics of the samples I have, and the things we are going to do here

Well I spent some money. On something new, truns out it doesn't come with a power cord. Also it uses a Wieland rst 20i3 plug system,..... So it looks like I have some Jimmy rigging to do
It's running 50-60hz so I should be able to hard wire a cable to it.

We will see though, hopefully I won't be throwing away hundreds of dollars tonight.ba32d7c4e2957e98c594669757ba1a11.jpg1216d12df110b94feb0a8500767ddde4.jpg830023c1bff8eedfa8a5343190cc4032.jpg

I probably shouldn't be doing this, but I don't care, those guys in Holland can't even send a power cord so it is what it is. Warenty gone!!

Well to all who care about this plasma caster, I'll be taking it in this weekend to have a new terminal soldered, the good news is that I got another Mars hydro sp250 in the mail today.

Hope to see some sprouts soon as well.

Yep, The European power mains and US are different for sure. Generally speaking it's more of a pain in the ass and COULD ALSO BECOME a safety issue trying to interchange them.

That unit runs on 277VAC - 480VAC, so says it's data plate. DEFINITELY not the 120 VAC we have for US wall outlets.

I'll probably need some kind of transformer to make this operational, I have alot of electrician friends so this will be a project for sure.

I ordered some new lights either way and didn't lose to much on this light.

Would have been nice to use that money else were though.

Yeah, 277/480v  is a three phase set up, usually only used in heavy industry.   It is way more dangerous to work with then the 110/220 single phase voltage we have here at home in the US.  I would advise talking to your electrician friends, and  please be careful.

Beautiful cacti, BTW.  A truly stunning collection :)

So I would have to spend alot of money to get 277/480vac plug set up at my crib and would need to order the master controller to even use this on a timer in the first place. I think I'll just cut my losses and box this thing up and throw it in the garage as a lose.

It was listed as 120v when I ordered it so it's kind of some BS,... But whatever ig.

Thank you for the compliment on my little friends, I hope to heavily expand my collection this summer.

We'll be updating this thread as much as possible.

Ok so I got new tents and and new lights.

Currently I've only got 1 tent set up. It is a 4x4x6 ft tent with a Mars hydro sp250 as the light. I plan to do a majority of my seedling work in here.26fbf97deaa0cda57562a3d5e7f4c3c3.jpg

I have alot going on with my cacti right now, there is a mealy bug infestation starting so I am going to remove ALL of my specimens and treat them for the pest(over a period of 3-5 days). Once I've eliminated the mealy bugs I will sterilize and reprocess all the spent soil and grit into a new cacti mix.... It's going to be a long grueling process.

Besides that I have alot of very interesting things going on, I have a shit load of loph seeds germinating along with many other seedlings popping up.

Check out these degrafted macro x Peru trichs.7b581074470156b8be6f9dd3b95a312d.jpg2f9ca83627b5a7df8edaa533228d201c.jpg0bc7c9188bc9b7fcafafd6b8241ff856.jpg
I plan to do a complete update on my seedlings soon but in the meantime I'll just leave some loph pics behind.751060f2fb140d343c730ff2633f60ee.jpg6c1aea5095111b36871949f39dc977c3.jpg360a109a1b456eb2167a9e96e7e174f8.jpgd51947630d2763d06aba21f2bca22119.jpg05532f04bea42386cc5ca6a7f1b78b2e.jpg25855feb3d6236fc903a1fad3a3af41e.jpg

So im back and im back at it, here is a picture of my operation.

Not as big as my last setup and i ended up returning alot of my specimen to tribal comunities. I myself am native american but i dont belong to any NAC and im not living on a reservation. I do have alot of connections to NAC members and i have friends on reservations all over the country.

Either way im starting fresh with pentagona, decipiens, texensis, huizache. I have live specimen of each and i have seedlings in soil at the moment. Ill be able to pick up other varieties as time goes one but these are the only 4 i had access to.

So here is my setup.

I have alot of non lophophora that im working with and im useing pereskiopsis and trichocereus for grafting stock.

I plan to update regularly with all my little projects, my space is limited to one tent 4×4×6 and 600w of LED lights so i can only do so much this winter.0c7c89253ad8e4ee7c6f7f2a518bb156.jpg
