I just came across this, what appears to be a stinkhorn. It was already wilting away but luckily I got a couple photos.

Bruising in the center of the cap flesh is good to know and the base of the stem

Feild guides don't cover them all and names change
Mushroomexpert.com
Is helpful after you find the family in your guide to check for other similar ones in the family

Your stinkhorn is Lysurus mokusin.  The others are Coprinellus domesticus, maybe Psathyrella and perhaps Simocybe.    Don't forget to get closeup photos of the gills too, that really helps, especially with the smaller mushrooms.

Your stinkhorn is Lysurus mokusin.  The others are Coprinellus domesticus, maybe Psathyrella and perhaps Simocybe.    Don't forget to get closeup photos of the gills too, that really helps, especially with the smaller mushrooms.


Thanks! Sometimes I try not to disturb them too much, but it does help to get a good picture of the gills. Appreciate the ID’s!!
