I covet velocity. Subsonic rounds are interesting for sure. I have no reason to hide rifle reports and so prefer velocity in nearly every situation. These subsonic .300 blackouts may be of interest to you if you give them a read. They are badass just expensive and hard to find at the moment. And since I'm not shooting humans at night attempting to conceal the report of my weapon. I like high velocity rounds.

This is a good quick look at the blackout and what its going for. If you have need subsonic rounds I would investigate these. The first link is a good summary wiki link has a little more info on the round itself.

Speaking of tremendous velocity and reloading.
Some 7mm-08 brass for reloading i saved since last November. Now just to find the primers. Bahaa. I haven't tried hard yet tho. May the reloading gods be with me.4e5b79f937a92c79fe951b34bf589c0e.jpg

@Spark that post on them subsonic rounds that may interest you was for your post buddy. For educational purposes only. U know. I like the handguns have my preference. I really like that distance game tho. And figured I'd shoot you some info if you haven't checked it out. Subsonic rounds is da sheet. I just aint got much use for em now and velocity is where its at if ur not worried about rifle report. I hope that info is up ur alley friend and helpful.
Sig .40 is a fine weapon. I would be trying to eliminate my threat before it got close enough for such weapons. It is a fine handgun cal tho. For fukn sure.

subsonic is nice in theory and Hollywood but not all that practical in the real world

I've played with this plenty but unless you're dealing with .22 shorts there's still significant noise being made by the expanding gases to alert anyone nearby. It may make a difference at 300 yards in thick cover  or a dense urban environment but people will still know a gun has been fired or they'll hear something loud enough to get their attention.

What subsonic does do is eliminate the sonic boom, which is half the sound of a round being fired.

However, subsonics do just fine in the killing department at short range - before the low fps begins to affect accuracy.

I harvested three deer at 75 feet or less with a .223 with a  1 litre cola bottle taped over the muzzle.

It's strange, the bullet doesn't have the energy to expand so it drills a perfect .223 hole all the way through the animal.  Heart shots put them down as quickly as a 30.06 at full fps.

The subsonic .223 also did not have the energy to work the gas mechanism of the rifle - so no ejection - one shot and you have to manually cycle another round into the chamber.

I have fired 5 blackout rounds from a friends rifle. Outside that I have no experience with them. Was just doing research and shared it.

My friend and I went in together and got a ps9 carbine with a threaded barrel and a nice suppressor. We kill armadillos at night in a garden by a neighborhood with that bad boy.
You definitely cannot tell that fuckerhas been fired its quite easy to hide an entire cycle. I suppose it would qualify as subsonic with the 9mm round tho.
I guess maybe the .300 blackouts are better for distance while keeping the sound profiles low? Idk i think ill stick with the pc9. The blackouts are interesting though.

Pc9 no suppressor here yet tho. The clip above it is for a galil its became an unorganized day lol.77034e6560b6fd8e1afbcc0e39ac5fb1.jpg

I couldn't help myself . St patty day let the liquor tell it.
Look hard here man...This is the .300 blackout suppressed with a similar suppressor for the pc9 carbine I shared.

.300 blackout supersonic. Subsonic. Then suppressor subsonic.
If u can somehow hear that in an urban or suburban area at night and accurately call the initial rifle report..after realizing ur still alive. Then id ask myself u know since its subsonic why there isn't a second report.. before briefly realizing I always knew the answer to my question and had made a terrible mistake.

If you can't hear that at night .. Then id watch my ass.
I'm a simple farmer who prefers velocity and has not much use for such tools. Just sayin its not entirely fictional and its used by organizations for this reason. But anyway a rainy day how they say. In the rain its supa silent. Its gnarly man but not good for shit past 150y id say fo sho.

I was talking about the 9 carbine more rambling like a tool. I'm striking my last post on that. Here is filler material.
There's no material just blank space... enjoy! Happy Patty's day friends!

Small score today. Doesn't qualify as a reloading post but since I'm not making posts ill put her here. Since Russian 762s are steel case. Found them today for 50c a round in hand. Not bad considering the wackiness. Put buffers in the sks repositioned the recoil spring. No hangup so far put a box thru it today. I'm excited.ead9ad6e38f34969d95817c0c1e16f8e.jpgcdc5d7f7ddf568bcc5fcc3f23a237701.jpg

I installed a buffer and a new recoil spring on my type 56. 1 strip clip at 25y fired quick burst from laying position on the paper. 5 rounds at the ol pistol target from 75y.
Working on my norinco has been a great deal of fun. Now that she's doing work it makes it even more exciting. 10 round stripper clips load fairly quickly and have me wondering. I almost would prefer a bunch of stripper clips and an sks than 3 30 round ak mags and no one to load them for me. Although I do love galils and would just get a 75round drum.. the sks is like a step back in time shooting. And makes you wonder what the vc actually felt like relying so heavily on this weapon. I know I thoroughly enjoy mine.702de4b28e71e01dbe61960c3d2183fc.jpg93a28c21743b0324c90647d9842834ca.jpg
Maybe I add this pic.
As I sit here and lightly sand on this bolt and bolt carrier. I do really like the type 56 dudes. After the cosmolene clean and some tlc its a fine weapon. 93746bd6c6f0cc9aa60e4291d3cadcfb.jpg

We still posting here lol.

LOL!!  I haven't forgotten about his hobby. My neighbor across the street was thinking that I am mad at him or something.

Real Life:

There is an enormous skilled labor vacuum in my area and work has really been hectic busy. I love spending money on my hobbies but I have to make hay while the sun shines.

Been working my keister off lately.

I hope you don't need any parts for that neato WWII piece.

We've been waiting almost a year for a pawl advancement spring for that .22 Ruger revolver I mentioned early in this discussion. Numrich is taking forever. I'm beginning to wonder if the part will ever arrive.

I have everything necessary to build 7mmREM ammo. 300 magnum primers, 2 lbs of rifle powder, polished and re-sized brass, 156 grain .308 bullets..........all ready to go (for months and months now). I built the modified rifle case that I mentioned and have all of the critical chamber measurements with which to build custom rounds for my rifle.

Neighbor also purchased a bench-rest shooter's sled - which has not seen action yet either. Just too much going on lately.

Yeah the 7mm ammo situation fukn sux bro. I'm glad I bought 500 last November. I would have seriously regretted not having them this year for hunting if they are still unavailable when deer season comes up in 5 months. Good lord I can't find anything cartridge wise for that rifle right now.

When you butchered them did they have a substantial amount of more useable shoulder meat than when you’d normally shoot them with a regular round and blow the shoulders out ?
