Henlo friends.

I came across some specimen today that I was hoping to possibly get aid in ID'ing?

These were found along side an old walking trail growing from the edge of a patch of moss.

They don't seem to bruise, but this is my first time encountering and procuring specimen from  the wild so I don't have /any/ experience identifying.

I am completely useless at mushroom id, but number 1 rule is never eat anything you cannot 100% be sure is safe. I would say with no blue bruising, those are not likely to be what you are hoping...

I'll let some of the experts chime in here.

Not what I was expecting with the title " treasure trail "..............................

Skywatcher is correct.

When in doubt, throw it out!!

My cousin almost died eating the wrong mushroom!

I am only well versed in identifying the species that I harvest and some of the ones I know to NOT harvest.... There are SO many different types of mushrooms and only the most focused can wrangle all/most of them on the ID front... These have similar features to cubes but I would say that they almost certainly are not... Along the side of a path next to moss is not typical for cubensis...

Definitely not going to chow down. I have the patience to wait for my own to get done, it makes it that much greater lol. Sadly it seems the environment in the trails behind my home seem to be hurting.. Nearly eerie silence when I stop and listen for a while. No critters crittering. Barely but a couple birds here and there. many of the trees seem to be dying off as well. Definitely not planning to venture back out there except to chop down some dead conifers.
