Found this beautiful little patch of oysters last weekend on a little hike I was on trying to scout some early chanterelles. I was pretty happy because it was my first time seeing oysters fruit so plentiful and fresh. Also it was 40 degrees with the humidex so it was quite the surprise lol. It rained 2 days prior tho.

I can't believe it's forty wherever you are. Those are awesome though!

104f is a surprise to you? Although I would surprised (and wanting to visit) if its actually 40f with "Summer" in the title.

Range of humidex: Scale of comfort:[2][3]

  • 20 to 29: Little to no discomfort
  • 30 to 39: Some discomfort
  • 40 to 45: Great discomfort; avoid exertion
  • Above 45: Dangerous; heat stroke quite possible

Haha, I guess I should have clarified 41C, I’m in Canada eh? I also should have clarified I was surprised to find the oysters at that temp cuz I’ve never had luck with summer oysters so my eyes weren’t looking for them, they were mainly on the ground that day.

The humidex is killer here, I gotta work in 45+ sometimes, welding. So it feels like 100 lol, but it’s half hour on, half hour off for safety reasons.

oysters are super prolific... they are one of the mushrooms species that you will at times find fruiting mid winter with the temp changes... In my area, golden oysters are invasive.... They eat just about anything and fruit like a behemoth!!

Nice! I’m hoping for a good fall/winter here, we barely get snow and I’m in a whole new region too. I just moved from out west not long ago.
