"It's the middle of the night on a small farm in Iowa. A young kid hears his dog barking hysterically, so he gets out of his bed and runs outside to see what is going on; he chases the sound of his dog barking into the middle of the cornfield, then, suddenly, a green beam of light shines on him from out of the sky!"

Typical 'B' movie alien trope, the green tractor beam from the ufo

Only, I had it happen to me. I start off the story with this well-known image because, well, there's just no better way to describe the tube of light- Imagine a stereotypical tractor beam, gets you pretty fucking close.

Well, I can do better; the light was 'milky', primarily green, but white tinged, and almost 'sparkly' in some way.  And, it reached all the way up to the stars.

This happened ten or eleven years ago; I used to live pretty much on the beach in southern california. A favorite pasttime was going to the beach at night and watching the waves; a past time even more  enjoyable under the presence of LSD; lucy being a friend I was well familiar with at the time.

One evening, my friend L and I are sitting on the beach, watching the waves, we'd taken a few tabs a little while earlier. It's a clear sky. Suddenly, BAM- green spot light laser beam shining on both of us from out of infinity.

Then, the light clicks off.

I look to my left, and right, up and down the beach, looking for maybe a cop patrolling, harassing us with his highbeams because of being on beach past curfew, or maybe one of the houses behind is is fucking with us by shining a laser...?

Or a helicopter?

No. Nothing. Much to the dismay of the rational side of my mind scrambing to find a logical explanation for it's first encounter with something totally out of this world.

Silence.

Then , L turns to me and says 'Did you just see that?"

"Fuckkkkkkkkkk I'm so glad you said something; I thought maybe I'd just started losing my mind"

"..."

"..."

Then it turned on again.

I realize this story would be better if I could accurately describe the length of time that those light beams shone on us; but, as anyone well familiar with psychedelics can attest to, time stops having any real meaning. Even more so when the mind thinks it's encountering life from another level of reality entirely. 30 seconds? 10 seconds? 3 minutes? A lifetime?

Then Off.

L and I quickly began discussing whether or not we were going to stay and wait until we got abducted by aliens (my entire concept of alien/other dimensional life being in it's infancy at the time, and much informed by popular sci fi movies), Very quickly we were in agreement that No, not happening that night and so we scurried off the beach.

Were it me now, certainly would have made a different choice, and stuck my well-travelled hitch hiker's thumb up to the sky the moment I saw that light beam turn on...

Despite our intent NOT to get abducted by aliens... I have to wonder, given the commonalities across abduction accounts of 'missing time' and suppressed memories; perhaps first beam was us being taken, and second beam was us returning?

Maybe not even a tractor beam at all, but rather a message laser- in which case, why so physically large?

All speculation at this point... but it's certainly an experience I would LOVE to know what the fuck actually happened and why, from where and who and when.

Ive seen some crazy things also..

To say our one rock around our one star is the only place in the vastness of the universe where life evolved is mathematically impossible.

Ive seen green glowing orbs flying around. Then get chased off by our airforce jets. Only one reason our fighter jets would be scrambled, ufo of some sort.
The jets then made a grid path for the next half hour or so befor heading back to base.
I was sober too.

When i was a kid i was plaing in south cali in a huge feild in the fog, we were playing manhunt.
When some ufo just kinda appeared maybe a football feild away, kinda egg shaped, with red white yellow and green lights all over it. Strangest thing about it, there was no sound, then it just went strait up super fast.until i couldnt see it anymore.
My older sibling said it was just a helicopter, and that we should get inside.
I was like.. umm no?? You can hear a helicopter wayy befor you can see them, especially only a hundred yards or so in front of me.

Years ago my brother and a friend of his decided to hitchhike across the country. Their first stop was to another friends place in W. Virginia. He was waiting for them with hits of Acid that they downed towards evening. Everyone was getting a nice buzz and he decided to sit on the front porch as night descended. As he was sitting there he started noticing what seemed to be sparkles around the bases of trees that gradually turned into red arcs racing up the tree trunks and throughout the branches above. Eventually his hiking buddy joined him on the porch but didn't say anything to him about the arcs. After a while his buddy says I didn't want to say anything about it but do you see the red arcs going up the trees? A little while later the house owner joins them, my brother indicated to his friend not to say anything. Again after a while the new guy finally makes a similar comment. Finally the owner's wife joins them and they repeat the same routine. She too saw the arcs.

That in and of itself confirms to me that LSD has the capability to open your eyes and mind to things otherwise not seen.

I view LSD as an amplifier... It will amplify emotions, colors, light, and just about anything else in the physical and nonphysical realms... I don't see it as opening you to things so much as amplifying what you could already see if you knew how to properly focus your energy... I think over time, we have evolved in a way to make life easier... Whether by nurture or by nature, we have built walls that limit the distractions... I feel that Ketamine also allows us to break down some of these barriers... Pretty damn cool... I really think it helps us use parts of our brain that we have shut off/minimized over time but is always there...

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and refracted the light from Venus.
