I have taken Kratom daily for two years or more now, and found it to be a life changer for me.

My partner suffers with rapidly progressing neuropathy in the legs and feet. The pain becomes intollerable at times and he can't take any more gabapentin now.

(not that it even seems to help anymore)

In my never ending quest to find something, anything to help alleviate the pain he feels, I just recently convinced him to at least try the Kratom. It has offered more relief than anything else at this time, and even helped him feel good for a while.

I don't mind the taste myself, but he can't barely gag it down.

What methods have any of you Kratom users found to make it taste better? Has anyone found a way to reduce the volume for a dose by concentrating without loosing any potency?

I appreciate any and all feedback or suggestions...........

I put mushrooms in jello shots but not sure if it would work for kratom?

It doesn't sound like he is gonna be in to the classic "Toss and Wash" but I will throw it out there anyway. I have been adding an equal amount of cacao to the Kratom, basically one spoonful of each and then adding water. Stir it up real good and then chug. I suppose you could heat it like a hot cocoa and consume that way too. But after years of a classic toss and wash, the cacao actual tastes pretty good to me.

Also useful for us cactus people

I removed my post.

The message was: Hey guys why not eat your Kratom mixed with grapefruit pulp?

Off topic.

I may post my own Kratom thread one day.

I personally have grown used to the taste, and a cup of water with a heaping teaspoon stirred in gets chugged down before my

taste-bud's even react.

I have so far used OJ for him, as he gagged his way through the first try with water as I take it. He reacts better to a lower dose than I take we found, so I have coached him to just pour it down, don't sip at it, but I can use less OJ to make a smaller cup. It's still more than he can just swallow down in one try.

He liked the idea of jello shots, but I am not sure how to suspend the powder so it does not settle or float before the jello congeals.

He also liked the chocolate idea. Mikey, do you use one that has the powdered milk in it like an instant hot chocolate mix? or something like the Hershey's that you would stir into milk?

Has anyone tried the products that are listed as 25X, or the "enhanced" blends with a concentrated form added in? They are pricey but if they are just as effective with far smaller doses It might be something to consider..........

I really appreciate all the feedback.

i have some extract at the house that I have not yet tried... I don't know all that much about all the actives in Kratom, but I assume that with the extract you are only getting one of several active compounds since mitragynin has been isolated with the extract... Or at least partially isolated...

I made some pills because I was not a fan of drinking it. They are easy as pie to eat, a little stomach bubbling, best taken with water I think. The downside is like pharmer said for the "normal" dose it's quite a few gel caps. I was taking small amounts though so they were fine. I am undecided on that kratom.  Maybe it was just unnecessary for me to take it

When Bouncing Bear Botanicals was around I used to buy their "Indo" version of the Kratom. I don't know if it was concentrated or not but it was noticeably stronger than the other offerings available.

I've was always a fan of the "toss and wash" method described above and never tried mixing it with anything.

My back has been in good enough shape that I haven't bought any since 2008 or so - right about the time BBB shifted gears away from offering certain items.

Quality product is a necessity.

Each variety is also affected by where it comes from and when it is harvested, as well as how it is dried and processed.

I consistently get A+ product from my vendor of choice. I also lean strongly to White Horn and Maeng Da.

I went to one of the Indonesian red varieties for my partner, and got the Bali. In my opinion it is as strong as the Horn and Maeng Da, but feels more sedative.

My understanding is that the Maeng Da is just a fancy name for premium... Maeng Da is not a strain, in fact, it is a term that can be used for any type be it white, green, or red... It can be applied to Malaysian or bali, etc... It is typically applied to a providers most potent formula or possibly to their most premium leaves with the lesser quality raw materials being left for none maeng da varieties.

Thank you PJ,

I did not know that but it makes sense. The products with the name Maeng Da do always seem stronger to me.

Just a quick update for you people.

As I hoped, my partner is getting better at the fast chugdown with OJ, and not so disgusted with the taste. I believe he is more focused now on the benefits.

I will say on many days, the Kratom is now proving to be the only thing that gives him some relief.

The pain level he experiences at times is getting frightening...............................

I use kratom daily to manage chronic pain, due to an outstanding citizen prioritizing texting over piloting his SUV down the road. :deadhorse:

For the first few months I was capping it up, which was fine in the flavor department, until those beautiful powdery kratom burps. But it was a pain in the ass, quite literally. Dropping that much dry powder into my gut caused me to cramp up, and backed me up so bad I was considering keeping a shoe horn by the toilet. Would that work? I don't know, but copious amounts of walnuts sure did.

Then I switched to pouring a few ounces of boiling water over my dose, waiting for it to cool a bit, then chugging it down. Pretty terrible in the flavor department, but it eliminated the cramping and brick hard, desert dry, donks. I started to experiment with adding a spoonful of turmeric to calm inflammation, and for a bit of potentiation. I don't know if it helped with inflammation, but it did seem to make my normal dose hit a little harder. An added benefit, was that it did improve the flavor just a tad.

What really helped was "shutting" off my sinus while I chugged that vile sludge, followed by a good drink of water, before I opened up my sinus again. After a while the flavor ceased to bother me, because I would think to myself. . .Well it's better than burnt cactus tea. :meditate: But, not by much.

Now I am rarely bothered by the flavor. It is just part of daily life, much like using construction site porta-jons. That first summer is hell, but now it's meh. . . An acquired taste one might say.

Thank you roscoe. I always mix with water for myself, and let it fully saturate before swallowing, so I have not had issues in the stomach or other difficulties. I am going to pick up some tumeric for the dose amplification as I had not heard that.

If it helps the flavor (which I don't mind), I might try adding some to my partners OJ brew as well.

The patented move where you pinch your nose closed and only breathe through your mouth. It works for just about anything, until you breath through your nose again and get the after taste.

Whenever I get sick and stuffed up I lose most of my sense of taste.

Pinching off your nose is one way.

But I was referring to the internal method. It's a move you can learn my pushing the back of your tongue up against the roof of your mouth. kinda. . . You may do it without knowing when you are swimming to keep water out of your nose.

Make sense?
