It was coir/verm with a coir casing. I added the pine duff from the forest floor and the strawberry clover seeds when I saw the mycelium poking up through the casing... The tray had a dome and has been outside under cover in the shade. The spore prints I made are light.
I spawned some of the same culture to on of my garden beds under a big burdock plant. It has colonized all the soil very nicely and we have been getting rain so I hope to see a few come out of the ground.
Those ones you did in that can look meaty. Nice job with those.

When you place your colonized blocks in the barrel and fill with compost, do you incubate before casing or case right away? Do you start watering right away? Are those 1/4 perforated irrigation lines or do you just poke holes in solid lines?
I’m setting up a couple of my own caerulescens “barrels”, but I’m going to experiment with large 3 gallon ice-cream pails instead of barrels. I’ve considered trying a gravity feed drip watering setup on a timer, or just an ultrasonic humidifier (which can make things very moist in a small volume chamber).
Thanks for sharing your success and letting us know what worked well for you.

Drums please! My next experiment is going to be using BIG terracotta pots inside a drum.....
Myco Mistress already demonstrated the amazing response from multiple woodlovers doing such.....
I'm confident that Oysters and many others will grow this way.....where there's water and high RH with food...there's fungi....
The possibilities are seemingly endless.....we gain control of just about everything....except maybe temperature....
NOICE!

PS: The maitake barrel thread shows how I'm doing it as well....same thing, block in the center, fill around with compost/topsoil, thin casing of fertilized potting soil (casing of choice by species)
"Barrel heads" or whatever that represents be it tubs, drums, coolers, 24" PVC pipes, drain tiles, and on and on and on.....

My caeru blocks are ripe and ready to bucket-ize so once this gadget arrives on the weekend I’ll get set up.
