The Tak Mountain Cube strain began on July 4th at the Taksinmaharat National Forest on Mushroom foray with my colleague Dr. Prakitsin Sihanonth of the Dept.of Microbhiolgy at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. There were 7 of us on this exursion and a driver form the Univ. We first went to the Burmese Border where I crossed over to buy a few star rubys and then back over the Freedom Bridge. I made some spore prints while over the border.and then had my visa renewed before heading to the National Forest named in honor of King Taksin the Great. after four days of traveling deep into the jungles of Tak, we collected specimens of several species to take back to Bangkok. On the last day, Dr. Sihanonth called out to me in the cabin to come Look-See at what he had found in the grass. A lone single specimen of Psilocybe cubensis (Earle) Singer. The one mushroom only had grown there from powdered manure that had been used as fertilizer and spread throughout the lawned area around our lodge.
I also photographed butterflies, caterpillars, rabbits, walking stikcks, leaf hoppers, Brugmasia species and other oddites and aeven a wild black bear. And a peacock.. Here is a picture of the actual mushroom in the grass. Two prints were made of this specimen, and I grew the strain in pasteurize kwai manure mixed wtih Rice paddie straw/ and the mycelia grown from PDA in a petri plate and then mixed in a terrarium.
