It's an old one! Even came with the original manual dated 1955 Sears and robuck! And still has the canning rack in it! Lady only wanted 25 bucks for it! Holds a lot more jars than my other one! Now I need to find something to can.. lol.. know I'm getting old when a pressure cooker excites me this much! Lol

Is it really because your getting old though? Or because you're a mushroom cultivating enthusiast?

Thats a nice one! I am envious of the deal you have found! I have been searching all the second hand stores around here with no luck. Not even jars are available. I was hoping to find some nice ones like that to offer in contests and such. I keep looking though! Canning season id almost over I will have to step up my search efforts though.

How's the gasket on that 55? Have you took it for a test drive yet? Either way, gaskets are still somewhat easy to get and that's a nice find. I bet that one gets to pressure in minutes rather than a half an hour like the new Mirro and Prestos do. Plus I can see that the pressure gauge has been replaced so that would say that someone took care of it.

Here is a pic of the original gauge for that canner.

No I haven't tried it yet just got it earlier today but the gasket looks decent.. my dad went and got it for me and the first thing I asked him was if the gasket looked alright.. but we shall see how it performs when I find something to can.. but yea I did notice the gauge looked newer and it has a pressure valve instead of the weight which I'm not used to but I do have a couple weights I can switch to if I don't like the valve

Mine's an old Burpee from the mid 60's handed down to me from my dad.. who got it from my mother's late father. Had all the original pieces to it too as well as the original user guide lol. I don't know how much my grandfather had used it but my dad insisted he used it twice shortly after he got it 21 years ago and it stayed in storage since
