hello!

I was just doing a jar inventory inspection as I was about to put them to totes.
I’m well aware of what to look for in contams but I’d like to know more.

Are these jars safe? I’ve read the clear liquid is bacteria so that’s a no no for Totes, I have heard that the yellow liquid is fine to put in totes as long as grain isn’t mushy.

I also noticed some of my jars ( pictured below) have white balls of growth, is that mic? Or would that be some kind of other growth?

Also I shake my jars 3-5 days before adding them to substrate. I’ve noticed that some jars aren’t that beautiful thick stuck together mass in the jar after the final shake, they break apart with a gentle shake of my hand. You can notice the density of them in the photos.

Is there a rule when it’s 98% enoculated, I shake, and how long should I wait to put into totes. As I mentioned above I do 3-5 days, is it dangerous to do it sooner or a few days after the 5 days?

If you have any advice on jars I’d love to hear it! I’m not going to put these into totes as I want to be sure. I recently had a trich issue in my room so I’m extra careful!!

Thanks everyone! 2E0462E9-4B44-46C2-A36D-472E826AABF5.jpeg E8C483F0-0C8D-4A97-8D5F-9C858097EEB2.jpeg E2DA0EB4-DFCB-4258-9956-B58D7EE1B808.jpeg B21B3F51-43BB-41F6-A104-424026B24660.jpeg 115FA62D-EBA0-48C9-84B7-BD2F022744CE.jpeg A87F21FA-2C67-4D2D-9E21-CC8F9891FCC7.jpeg 87C895D6-AF70-4E17-9DD7-A346C79D52D1.jpeg 4B3E7797-8CCD-42A3-BDB8-08B39311CDEA.jpeg

If you had trich, there’s no mistaking it. It’s hard to tell from the pics. But they look grey, and jars I’ve had that looked similar were roached. Sure fire way is to smell jar when you spawn. If it’s not that glorious wonderful myc smell, toss em. But like I said hard to tell from pics. They should be brilliant white and smell delicious. Hope that helps, or lends for a diff line of questions/conversation.

The thing is that they do smell normal. I didn’t shake them just opened the lid a little to inspect and do the smell test.

Then the only way to see what’s what is to spawn them and see what happens. If you smelt and there was no sour smell. I’d say your probably ok.

Do the white balls look off to you? Wispy cobweb like?

I know it’s vague feedback but it hard to tell from pics. Ya know.

Here’s a jar of B+ from a while back. Maybe you can compare/contrast.

If it’s cubensis your going for, then those jars don’t look right to me. The growth looks too thin and not the nice white that’s normal for healthy cube mycelium. Here are some examples of healthy cube myc:

Here’s a brown rice jar that I’ve got recovering from a shake. 220D13FF-5120-4C2A-8798-8285B3511E16.jpeg

And here’s another of some new growth from a recent inoculation. 36C81995-01E1-4DCF-AA71-99FB50D0C863.jpeg

Much better pics for comparison. Thats what a healthy jar should look like.

Like I said. They look off, grayish, something doesn’t look right.

You could spawn em, but I’m sure they go south. Pull your pants up and try again.

Good luck and keep trucking!! It will hit and when it does its All Worth it.

These look suspect. I would let them go a while longer. I wouldn't call them ready to spawn.

It's some gross white mold!!!

Cubensis doesn't grow that "loosely" on grain.

Looks way too wet, could be bacterial/mold
