This log is for the mutant cubensis cultivar known as Enigma. From what I've read, it's a few different isolates of penis envy with different forma. It's extremely CO2 tolerant and has a dry weight of 25%, compared to 10-14% for normal cubes. It runs very slow, which isn't surprising for PE vars.

I have 4 small bags of grain and 2 plates running, all started from the same master plate.

The isolate I have looks like maitake primordia, here's a picture from my buddy's tub.

Good to see this thread around.

Got a senesced Enigma culture on plate that I'll try to reinvigorate somehow.

Enigma is a mutation that occured early in the unstable phase when B+ and PE was crossed to "tidal wave".

Colonizes pretty agressive but fruits slow and steady.

I think it would be super cool to see a time laps of the fruiting but to film for a month or so depending on how big they grow is a long time to keep a cam or phone running nonstop.

Always a pleasure to see them grow, looking forward to everyones grows

How long after spawning are tubs usually harvested?

My buddy's tub took about 5 weeks from inoculation to harvest. Second flush takes about 10 days to start coming in, and another 2 weeks to mature, so total life cycle is about 60 days.

I'm going to try growing them invitro, maybe cut an X in the bags to stuff with poly. They also yield best in tubs when spawned at a 1:1 ratio. Growing well at that nutrient concentration makes me think they will do well in my sterile supplemented bag recipe, which has 1.4-1.6% N and about 80% cellulose.

Few other projects I have going on right now.

AA+ clone and some multi-spore bags colonizing.

Blue Meanie isolate in grain. Transferred from a petri hence the big colony clump.

Amazon isolate and some invitro lion's mane for supplements.

That’s such a cool looking strain, but I would not want to be harvesting and cleaning such shenanigans lol. good luck with your run bro! Looking forward to the results!

We had some serious plumbing issues for a month and my projects were put on hold. Got everything running again and it's looking really good.

Steam rig, got it automated with a 110v solenoid and sump pump on a short cycle timer. It comes on for 15 seconds every hour.

15 seconds every hour? Typo or what? So you are heating the steamer up till it steams then turning it to the cycle timer? Why not just wire up a PID temp controller to nail the temp exactly? I can help you with that. I'm surprised you could find a cycle timer to handle 4500 watts or however much that steamer is. Some PIDs also have a duty cycle power control 1-100% which you control like a stove to keep the power level you want. Bring it up to simmer with 100% and then dial it down to whatever to maintain.

That 15 seconds per hour is just to refill the boiler. It runs for 42 hours, goes through 95 gallons of water. I was having to wake up at 3 or 4 am to refill, now I can sleep through the night. When I did the calculations on BTU output and specific heat of the ingredients it said the system takes about 18 hours to hit core temps.

I ran PIDs on my last two steamer setups, they're cool but when they go bad an entire run gets wasted.

https://mycotopia.ne...-2#entry1280114

I just matched the BTU output to system mass on this one. The boiler controller has duty cycle adjustment, but I need a good long probe to reach into the center of the bag stack. Most of them can't handle 200° for a day.
