You can achieve the same with a lighter. I slowly move a lighter about 5-6" from the face of the filter across its entire face. I watch the flame and see where it begins to move and dance from the optimal 45°. So far my only turbulent areas are the extreme outer edges. I do all my work in the center and so far it's working. I have an extra agar plate open in the work area as I work. This acts as a contaminate test. And so far every test plate I've used is still empty. I will keep you updated.
if you have a vape pen or other source of mist or smoke, you can actually see the flow patterns and where it gets all tangled - you want to stay in "the smooth"

Nice - and in retrospect, its probably better not to be vaping in the room with the LFH anyway
