I'd guess you shouldn't have problems fruiting from cakes.

Picked the first few side fruits, didn't look like they were sporulating. Also inoculated some PF cakes with a blended up agar wedge.

Harvested the rest of this mess. Pretty sure I waited too long to case this tub. The mycelium is poking through in the middle now, so I'm hoping I'll get at least one decent flush out of this...

These side fruits don't seem to be sporulating - Yoshi, have you found these to take a while to drop spores or anything?

Side fruits are better than no fruits! :) Weird they aren't dropping spores, give them time, they will make a mess like cubes.

My first bag is still making side mush but also making them from the top. The second bag is doing the same, maybe a little less from the sides.

I figure I've got some other jars started, so if I don't get prints from these something else should work out. Thanks again for the print for these! Even though this grow is a mess it's been nice doing something with a species that doesn't take months to fruit

This is great. I wanna study this species once I can find myself a print. Exploration like this is paving roads into the future.

One thing I noticed and probably mentioned before but overlay is a problem with this strain so raking may be necessary for fruiting as I have experienced.

Yep, these ones are going on the list of mushrooms I'd like to grow. Though the list seems to grow faster than I can actually add on new grows. Nice work you guys!

Here you go Newmoon, when they are ready, they make a mess. This was unintentional, by the time I could get to them, the entire sub was covered in spores, had to change the spore-covered polyfil too.

I tried for some prints so hopefully I can share!

Lots of thick overlay Seeker, that is for sure. It still fruits right through it for me though.

Not going to be a canopy but at least a few nice clusters are coming up in this tub. I'll let these go until they sporulate, barring anything unexpected, and I'll probably clone something for the next round.

Mushy mushy night. The second sub with fuel pellets added had to be harvested last night. Unfortunately I couldn't set up my fan so these were picked and photographed in the open air. We'll see if I get a 2nd flush before the funk sets in. My FAE looks to be low still.

Nice work! They look like an interesting strain to play with.

I dig the use of backgrounds. Makes for a cool pic.

I wonder If it is possible to cross this species with Cubensis since it is genetically similar?

I have no experience with breeding so I’m a bit naive, but it seems like an interesting idea to try.

I feel ok about this for my first grow with the species. I'll be taking spore prints later today, should have plenty to share as well.

I'll take a clone from this group of fruits and do another tub of those.

Here's a plate of natalensis...

resized000.jpg

YT or whoever else is growing these, do you find that they prefer somewhat drier conditions than cubensis?

Well, guess I was premature in picking those - a few were sporulating, but most weren't ready to print. Yoshi, did your prints come out nicely?

I'll try again on the next flush and with my other tubs...
