What do you ride, slide, jump, or fly?

What's your passion? Hiking? Biking? Skiing? Snowshoeing? Whatever it is. Do more of it. Life's too short to be too busy to enjoy.

Hard to explain that zen that you can experience on any sport with a board. Crazy going from a traditional board to a cruiser and really not feeling a vibration and not being worried about rolling over some debris, speed bumps, or those damn rumble strips. I've always tried to get into walking meditation as I have trouble being still, learning to ride in both stances has allowed me to finally meditate while riding...Something about getting in the groove and connecting with the board.
Grew up surfing and there's a peace in sitting on the board waiting for the set. There's always that huge rush when you catch that wave and get that line in.
As I got older and my knees started yelling at me from all the running I did in my late 20's. I found skating as a low impact activity (as long as you don't fall...). I'm all about the cruise now too, except most of my rides are me setting goals for distance or top speed.
Make a long story short; sold my bike, sold a few guitars, and now I'm addicted to skating. Haven't felt the need to snowboard or ski which saves so much money!
Board on left is meant for downhill/gnarly terrain. Board on right has special physics to force the front wheels to turn and the back wheels are stable allowing you to gather speed via your hips it's a fun dance...

I dreamt about a bike for years and knew I'd kill myself so I never pulled the trigger...That looks like a ton of fun! Do you ride in the woods or tracks?
I won't ever bomb hills like these fucking nutbags.

When the rivers are flowing:
That's Pillow Rock, an awesome class-V rapid on the Upper Gauley river in West By God Virginia. The pic was taken just after I'd boofed off that huge rock. One of my other runs wasn't so great and it was exactly like what being flushed down a toilet would feel like. Lots of spinning as I plunged down into darkness but the board popped me back up like a cork once I got out of the whirlpool formed by the rock.
During droughts:
I ate some of my mushroom honey before going up that day (the photo is of my first ever real flight, which was tandem with an instructor). And all I have to say about it is holy shit don't do ever go hang gliding on mushrooms, even if it's just a little bit!
The oldest person they ever took up on a tandem flight was 90. The youngest was 8. That's why I went ahead with a little fungi, lol. So it seems to me like hang gliding and parasailing have the best adrenaline-to-body-damage ratio of any recreational or extreme sports since they won't wear out or wreck your knees or back or anything else unless you crash (but that can happen in your car on the way there). I don't see myself mountain biking on technical downhills when I'm 90, but I might be into hanging out in the sky (I don't actually see myself reaching anywhere near 90, but that's another topic).
No pics of riding a mountain bike since no one ever got around to taking one of me doing it so they could sell it to me, lol.
But most often I head out into the great outdoors with just boots (carrying a pack) or moccasins (when just out for a stroll, or when I need to be totally silent like when I used to sneak up on grizzly bears to smack 'em on the butt and run, an exciting game my friends and I played as kids. I'm the only one of us who made it to adulthood since I always ran the fastest). Sometimes I'll wear pants, too.

Is that a boogie board or something more specific to rapids, that is insane!
Ughhh, I'm comfortable around water but there's nothing worse then eating the dirt, coral, rocks w/e is down there. Or even getting stuck in some side pool.

It's one of these: http://carlsonriverboard.com/ I got mine in the late-90's, lol (I was the third person to start using one on the Ocoee River). It's beat up but still good to go.
Don't tell anybody, but it's MUCH safer, easier, and more forgiving than kayaking class IV-V rapids and allows you to go places no one else can (highly recommended!). Portaging unrunnable rapids is easy, and no there's need for a roof rack or big secure space to store it. I took a friend who'd never paddled a kayak or guided a raft down some long class-IV rapids on his first day on the water (it would normally take a whole season of training on lots of class-II-III runs to get good enough to do that safely in a kayak).
When I tell a kayaker familiar with the Upper Gauley that "I boofed the left side of Shipwreck!" they look at me like I'm suicidally insane, which I would be if I tried that in a kayak. If you bump into that rock in a boat or while swimming, you can easily get stuffed under it and sometimes when they find the body every bone in it has been broken, but I remember hearing about one case where a rafting customer went under because she ignored her guide and they found her alive when they drained the river since she'd ended up in an air pocket. But that kind of luck is like winning the lottery two weeks in a row, though it happened to a friend of mine on another river (more like a steep creek) once so it does happen (everyone thought he'd drowned since he was under a big rock for 15 minutes in an air pocket, he had to swim down towards some light to get back out. He said there was an old busted-up refrigerator in there, too so he was lucky he didn't get all cut up). Running the most dangerous rapids (class V-VI) is optional, fortunately, so it's only as "extreme" a sport as you make it.
Doing it on low doses of fungi is like being the water.

I live in the a small town near lots of state park rec trails. We like snowmobiling and summer riding a lot. I got an old 88 Yamaha blaster that seems to break down every year (I should save my pennies and get something more reliable) and then the trusty old Polaris.

Got a couple snowmobiles from the 90s that aren't much to looks at. A 440 Polaris and an old skidoo formula. They're small and light and now that I'm older I don't really need to go faster than 70 down a windy trail.
Been getting back out to the ski hills last couple years. After living in Colorado I couldn't bring myself to pay for what amounts to a bunny hill. 10 yrs later I'm asking myself why. It's still fun. I'm like a little kid hopped up on sugar when im out there. Ski Patrols always stop me to make sure I'm not drunk I get so excited.

Been wanting to do more kayaking and such. But it's been pretty limited. Maybe this year.

Skiing in a whiteout blizzard while dosed on some good LSD was one of my peak life experiences (in every sense). It was like being in the white room in The Matrix; all I could see was my skis and occasionally my friend who was with me, plus the poles stuck in the snow to mark the run every 10 meters or so which were only just barely visible. Sublime, surreal, and totally fucking awesome. I truly believe that everyone should try it at least once!
Oh, and at the start of that week I didn't know how to ski at all. By the 3rd day I was following my friend down double black diamond and icy mogul runs and keeping up (he'd skied for years), and after a few times the first day on the bunny hills I never fell again (even once) the whole week. Acid is truly amazing stuff. I was such a desert-dwelling snow-rookie that the first two days of the blizzard I only wore sunglasses. Goggles were a revelation.
So whatever you ride, slide, jump, fly, or paddle (or flipper, in my case), take it to the next level with a moderate dose of LSD if you can!

My body is so mad at me. I skated up and down a hill for 5 miles. My average speed increased 3 MPH and top speed was 5mph over my record.
Every muscle in my feet, legs, abs, back and some I didn't know existed are yelling at me for pushing them.

I feel like the risk of death increases when psychedelics and speed start to mingle. I'm down to shoot a rifle with a buzz. I doubt I'm gonna trip and hit any trails anytime soon tho. Sounds like an amazing time but ill have to pass.
I reckon it does.
And the same would apply to others when it comes to firing a rifle while tripping. IMO the level of bad that each idea embodies is a function of dosage and one's level of personal maturity. As in, keep it below a "visionary" dose even if you're an expert since you certainly don't want Visions getting in the way of your vision when riding or shooting. And don't let jackasses handle firearms or ride four wheelers (ever, but especially when tripping).
When I ride a mountain bike tripping, I go pretty slow. It's WAY better than walking (even riding real slow is still much faster than walking) in urban settings since I'm always "just passing through" and can GTFO of there quick if I have to (but I haven't tripped in a city in years; no need to escape a situation I never enter into in the first place!).
I found that the key to making this kind of thing work for me is to dose and start walking, riding, or whatever immediately. I want it to kick in after I'm already in motion. Same goes for hiking or river boarding. There seems to be an element of momentum involved; "an object in motion tends to stay in motion," etc. One exception was hang gliding since my dose kicked in while I was still in line for my turn, lol. The initial ascent (we were towed up by an ultralight) was overwhelming in its vertigo-inducing terror until I focused only on the horizon, which allowed me to relax a bit. That's why I don't recommend it.
That was ironic (in retrospect) because of all the things I've done while under the influence of psychedelics that suggest questionable judgment or sanity, hang gliding is tied for 2nd place on my list of the most terrifying and intense experiences while at the same time being the safest of them all (by far) since I was merely a passenger. And even if the pilot fell off and I was rendered unconscious it's designed to coast to a soft landing all by itself.
A friend who dosed from the same batch of acid I went skiing on said he rode his motorcycle all night and managed to lean into turns lower and faster than he ever had. That's definitely over my own personal line (one of my rules is "no combining motorized vehicles with psychedelics!").
I once induced a serious adrenaline rush just by watching a HD video of someone BASE jumping off a cliff while I was on a strong dose of fungi (a stay-home dose). It was a third-person perspective video, depicting them psyching themselves up then running off the edge. I felt like it was me jumping, even from that perspective. It was wild. Try it sometime...
I didn't mean to send this thread straying off-topic since it was about what we ride (etc.), not what we do when we trip. Hope that's not too annoying.
As I get older and my body continues to fall apart from everything I put it through I suspect that my recreational "ride" will eventually be exclusively psychedelics. And adrenaline-inducing memories.
