So these two tubs have been doing great but this morning when I looked at them I don't feel the same anymore. One seems to have a bit of wet bubble and the other Im not too sure whats going on. I need to know if these are still ok, if i need to abort, are they salvagable? I really thought I had it down on this run... Please help me out.

I don't think I see wet bubble.

They don't look terrible to me, but I'm not an expert. Basically as new as you. I cased all of my tubs so I never saw squat till the mushrooms started poking through.

Certainly don't abort mission. Hopefully the people with more knowledge have some good advice.

I'd just keep going.

Are those shoe boxes lined with anything? I'm thinking condensation running down the sides and the fungus sitting in a pool of water?

If it's turning color, like grey or black, especially if an odor other than fresh mushroom arises, it's contaminated...

Outside in the shade away from things and kept moist is an option........ if it's an option

Can't tell if it's shadows or changing....outdoors works well many times for "sick" subs

If contaminated you want to get it/them out....

Might be of some value moving forward.......

It is definitely worth studying the various contamination's and mitigations.....you should always accurately note and critique your experiments IMHO

Some more info would be cool... what variety are they? How old are they? Everything looks ok so far, imo. Definitely too early to ditch them. They look like they’re about to pin. They look a lil grey but that could just be lighting. Can you take a pic with the flash on?

They have been colonizing since 4/24 it’s a mix of pe/treasure coast. The pic that looks a little gray I can agree it was so white last night and now not so much. I’m not sure how to add another pic if you know I’ll gladly post one. What does that mean when they look that grayish tint? They smell fine, I have two other tubs I separated bc I thought they might be contam I’d like to post those too. Let me know what you think. Thanks

I’ve seen myc turn a bit grey before and be fine.. I’ve seen myc that bruised a very slight amount look grayish.

I mean just take a new picture with the flash on and upload that. I’m assuming you know how because you uploaded the first two haha.

If they’re mixed varieties, you’ll most definitely see differing of myc growth.. even in MS grows of the same variety, you’ll see different types of myc. I’d say never abort a grow until you see obvious contamination. Gray myc can mean cobweb mold but that’s pretty obvious.. it grows extremely fast and is a really dark gray... like really fast and gets big and looks like giant gray cotton balls. Your established myc turning a bit grayish could be nothing to worry about.

I say let it play out.

They actually look like the mycelium does when it figures out it ran into the air.....now it's falling over.....knots might be immanent.....

Carefully steady as she goes....... IMHO

Ah I see.. there should be a “more reply options” next to the “post” button on the bottom right of your reply box.. that’ll take you to the photo add-on page.

Not much you can do but sequester that tub... make sure it definitely has it and then trash it. Can’t really fix/cure it unfortunately

When i say has it I mean one tiny spot but from what I read this will spread and I should isolate this tub.. for right now thats what Im going to do. Let me know your thoughts please

How do you know that one little spot has it? It spreads very easily.. I’d think if one part has it, the whole tub would. Post a pic with the flash and the area that you suspect

The tubs that don't look fully colonized were the tubs I separated from the others bc I thought they might be contam but now Im not sure they smell fine but it doesn't seem to be growing any further. All these tubs were mixed 4/24. Strain is Golden/Treasure coast and PE. I hoping to get atleast one of these to produce, keeping my fingers crossed! I removed the tub with wet bubble but have not tossed it yet. Should i or should I wait and see what happens?

Wait.. is that dark blue the color of the sub or is that the shadow through the blue container? That’s why I say use the flash because all the shadows get confusing. If that’s the actual color of the sub, toss it lol. But I’m not seeing anything obvious in the other pics.. it’s right around the time they’re to pin, so I’d keep the suspect ones separate and see what they do. Sometimes water droplets can fool you or overly aggressive myc in a MS solution can fool you that it’s vert.

Dude I would be keeping the more mature looking trays in fruiting,....and the other two of them look like they need to colonize further......

I think pins are coming on fairly shortly actually......

Just what it looks like from here.....

There is nothing but white in all the tubs except the ones that haven’t completely colonized yet. I’ll stick to suggestions you guys have laid out and I’ll post some more pics early this week. Hoping for those pins to start forming. Cant begin to tell you all how excited I am!! Here we go!!!

Trust your nose above all else. IF it smells like fresh mycellium it will likely be fine. If it has anything else growing on it the smell is obvious. They all look like they will produce to me. I have had mostly colonized subs produce just fine. Sure hoping for good results from this attempt as I had given it up for a few years and would sure like to get a proper bulk or 4 going.
