.

Searching extensively in Topia I did not manage to find any experience proven instruction as to making Dust Spawn of some quality.

.

The topic concerns Sawdust taken free straight from wood workshops.

Pellets are out of consideration as amateurs preffer free material.

To begin with we have for free three entirely different sawdust kinds:

1. Sawdust containing just dust.

2. Sawdust containing small wood particles only.

3. Sawdust containing dust in majority, with 10-20% wood particles.

.  This one is the most availlable.

.

As far as I know number 2 is very efficient for successful and quick results.

On the other hand Nr 1 and Nr 3 are easily availlable, definitely nutrient and I would like to know how to use them for spawn and substrates as well.
.

Please let us all know your experience in Sawdust Spawn making, and on Sawdust subsrate making.

Are you enriching Sawdust with coir, verm, lime or gypsum, and what may be the best composition of the mixture.

How do you hudrate the mixture (mixed or separately)

,

I would deeply appreciate it if someone experienced would share his knowledge.

I don't know if it would be applicable in this situation but it may not be a good idea to use walnut (or tropical hardwoods) dust/shavings for shroom cultivation but yeah I would like to know too. I've got a dust collector for my woodworking shop that pulls off a jointer, planer, router table etc so recycle into shrooms!
