Last week while walking in the forest somewhere in Appalachia I found some of my first Reishi ever.  Real beauties!  I decided to grab some to clone.  I read they're not difficult to grow, so I figure I'll give it a try.

This isn't the exact fruit I grabbed, but these were in the same area:

And here it is on agar as of yesterday:

Update:

I started a couple of wheat jars with my reishi clone about three weeks ago.  They were slow to colonize because I didn't get the moisture content right, but they did colonize.  Here they are 24 hours after a shake and right before spawning:

I used 3 cups of 100% oak fuel pellets, boiled 3 1/2 cups of water, put the boiling water in a 5 gallon bucket with the pellets, put the lid on, wrapped the bucket in a blanket, and left it overnight to pasteurize.

Here is what it looked like in the morning before spawning:

I spawned to two shoebox-type containers in bags with holes poked in them and folded the bags over for the spawn run:

Fingers crossed!

WOW man! I'm very impressed.

Reishi cloning from fruit is no easy task.

Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the encouragement.  :)   If I can get them fruiting I'll probably offer some cultures on agar.

well this is a cool thread ...

so would  they mycelium be  benaficial llike lions mane ?  so myciliated grain teck ?

another idea ...for fruit you could buy a bag of hard  wood  of joint dowels.. sterilize in a jar and inoculate with .... hummm grain to dowel .

then  drill n   tap thyem into old trees/or logs ..

well guess you would need a yard or woods near buy heh

any way good work

In my limited experience with Reishi(6 blocks worth), fast colonizer... Slow fruiting.  One of my favorite Polypore's to fruit out though.  Looks good from here...
