I have a plant that looks like it hermied or something and I can see seeds and a few clusters here and there. It was a feminized madscientist and looks like it pollinated some of my other plants about 30 days into flower right now. I'm growing in 10gal smart pots with FFOF. What would you advise I do? I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut everything and start from seed all over. The majority of the pistils on the two mad scientist turned brown and shriveled. I had two madscientist that were freebie fems. I had two Acapulco Gold, and a Sugar punch in there that had several buds affected and the pistils turned brown. I must have not paid close enough attention but since they were feminized I didn't think much of it. It sucks but I don't want to have seeds. I cut the two mad scientist and got them out of the room but I'm afraid it's to late. TIA

First pic is where I see what looks like a seed

When you squeeze the seed pod, do actual green seeds squeeze out? Did you see any male flowers on your plants? They look like they smell real nice!

Yes, I squeezed the cluster of seed pods I found on a lower branch of the madscientist and a few green seeds popped out. But those are the only seeds I found. Its like a mystery to me because I looked over all the other plants besides the madscientist at all buds that appeared to be affected and couldn't find anything. I looked over other buds too that were not affected. It almost looks like where the hermie brushed against some of the others.

All these plants went into flower at the same time. Vegged together, I didn't see any male flowers or signs of it being a Hermie. I'm going to watch the 3 plants I have left for any signs of production of seeds.

I did spray them when the lights go off for wpm with Copper fungicide and added a little too much Castile soap to help as a spreader sticker and that's why I thought the pistils turned brown and shriveled from I only sprayed the two mad scientist and SP since the Acapulco are very resistant to wpm. But now that I found those seed pods it makes me think It hermied on me. I don't know what to do except to keep a close eye on the remaining plants in flower.

Dang, sounds like a hermi or maybe pollen drift??? It only takes one tiny male flower to goof it all up. Sounds like nothing left to do but wait. Personally, I wouldn't save any of the seeds that were produced. Worse case scenario, I bet it'd make some real nice hash!

Good luck!

Thanks YoshiTrainer. I read that bad genetics could play a role in a plant turning Hermie and different strains are sensitive to other factors like light leaks, heat stress, dramatic changes in temperature. So my theory is since I have never grown this mad scientist strain and it was a freebie it had hermie traits already and weak genetics usually show the traits 4 weeks in flower. My Sugar Punch and Acapulco Gold are good genetics I've been running for several harvests getting sensimillla. So maybe there wasn't much pollen produced and it wasn't viable. The madscientist didn't seem to do that well in my environment. It was really sensitive to watering and would get the claw very easily, it was looking nitrogen deficient with lighter leaves than the other plants.

I would probably make hash if these 3 that are left have seeds which I'm going to wait and see what happens. Its weird that some buds look pollinated because of the pistils turning brown and shriveled but the majority of the buds are fine. I still have about 8 weeks to go. The Acapulco gold can go 13 or 14 weeks after flipping 12/12 and sugar punch usually I let flower 10 to 11 weeks after flipping to 12/12.

That makes sense Observer, some plants are more likely to herm from stress than others. When you are trying to make feminised seeds by forcing them to hermaphrodite, the plants that herm easy are not as desirable as the ones you have to work at, IMHO.

I love sativas that take there sweet time! Please post some pics of the harvest (if not sooner :) )

I know feminized seeds used to have a real herm problem. I don't have much experience with them, as the only ones I grow are the freebies the seed banks like to include. I hope you didn't get too much pollen and mess with your grow! I used to hear about reversing products that growers would spray on herms to prevent pollen, I don't know if that's still a thing now.

I haven't had a problem with hermies till now. Who knows what made them stressed enough or if they were just bad genetics. I found 3 of these seed pods with light green undeveloped seeds most likely on each of the Acapulco Gold and none on the Sugar Punch so far. If these are the only ones I find will they produce more possibly since they still have 8 weeks plus in flower? In the first picture you can see it poking out of the calyx on the AG. A lot of the pistils are still white and not brown and shriveled. Does the pollen land on some and not others? I have 3 fans running in the grow room so if it drifted around it would most likely get on everything. I'm hoping that the pollen wasn't viable. It looks like I could get lucky but I'm keeping an eye on them. 2c0a6847d9cffe43d15e71903a5fda8b.jpgf65803b82a9e50f55f4e71f8c4c37a7a.jpg4aceb50bc20c554d7d12bb69a7ab183c.jpg3db4c75429d553abe247a148a1ab86cb.jpga35737b5097150476e5f645042ff3b63.jpg888ce79b4e939b34806e5ddf107c4ede.jpga2f4b7c9232af21b6e1ee7ba3b4edd82.jpgefe9c6d61cb1adbb1dc22dad2fb6f563.jpg

I removed the Hermie plant off the property. I found a few undeveloped seeds in my other females so my question is will these females that got pollinated produce pollen sacs that will pollinate new plants I introduce to the GH or will I just get a few seeds in the buds? The seeds I found were probably growing for quite awhile and It appears these ladies are still flowering and possibly the pollen from the Hermie was a very small amount and not really that viable. I've sprayed them with water and picked off the few underdeveloped seeds I found. What would happen if I grew a new strain from seed and introduce it to the grow room? Would I risk that plant being pollinated?

Once the pollen producer is gone plus the rinse you gave them, you should be fine. Pollination doesn't make the females hermaphrodite. They look great and w/that much time left, I'd guess you'll be fine.

Good luck!

Thank you. That makes me feel better. I'm going to wipe everything down with isopropyl and some water all surfaces and let these ladies go. I've been inspecting them close and picking off any seeds I find to put that energy back into producing bud. About 6 or so weeks to go

Well I lucked out on this Hermie problem. Got the hermied ones out and let them continue to flower. Trimming it all now and haven't found any seeds in the bud. I'm relieved I got lucky after that scare. Yielded about 12 oz from one Sugar punch and two Acapulco Gold.
