I've recently read that tobacco contains MAOIs. This brought something to mind that I had read about before; Amazonian shamanism regards tobacco as "the master of all plant teachers." Some ayahuasceros even put tobacco in their brews, sometimes recklessly; there is at least one death on record caused by nicotine poisoning from an ayahuasca brew. Even when tobacco is not added directly to the brew, shamans frequently incorporate tobacco smoking into their ayahuasca ceremonies. What do you guess think, does tobacco exert any MAOI effect on DMT, ayahuasca or other tryptamines?

I used to smoke cigarettes in college, the same place I tried mushrooms for the first time. I used to smoke cigarettes, cannabis and mixtures of the two. I found that smoking cigarettes really calmed the nerves when tripping and put me in a more relaxed and clear-headed state.

I use vape while tripping. While I used to love a fine cigar.

There is something in tobacco which is more than just nicotine. While a vape can keep me from going back to the smoke - it is not the same thing. Tobacco - especially cigars - seem to be appreciated more by the spirits. And I mean the good ones - La Gloria Cubana, Troya, ..............etc. Honduran labels can be best. ;)

Nicotine seems to interact with various neurotransmitters and "vape" has - basically - pure nicotine and water vapor.

Cigars and other tobacco products contain something more.... While I'm intrigued by the idea, I cannot afford to experiment as my tobacco days are long behind me. I recommend maduro or double maduro cigars.

PS:

If you must smoke a cigarette I would recommend the American Spirit. Roll a righteous spliff.

I used to chain smoke and haven't for quite a few years. After quiting I got started vaping and decided it's just bad for me in different ways. Every now and then I will have a cheap cigar. (One of these days I will try a good one). And with that in mind I don't think smokers trip harder. The tobacco may actually calm and ground a person I would think. Since when I smoked that was the expected reaction.

As I say it though. I stop and wonder. As a person not used to constant intake of nicotine/tobacco the reaction is probably more noticeable. So maybe I should pick up a good cigar for next time i trip and test this theory.

I have noticed a good cup of coffee seems to really kick start a good peak.

I quit smoking years ago and the only time I miss it is when I trip. I do vape but freebasing nicotine that taste like strawberry cannoli cream damn sure isn't the same.

An alternative MAOI smoke to try would be passion flower, which has the ability to be quite psychoactive as a tea.
