Clearly not a mushroom, but a fungus? Slime mold? I've shared this with quite a few folks, including a plant pathologist. No one can tell me what it is, or even what it might be. The growth is on a violet leaf, it was not slimey or dusty. It had a firm rubbery texture when I collected it last week. Now that it is dry, it feels like the surface of a styrofoam cup. No discoloration when bruised, no distinct aroma. Any Ideas?
