I have a old style vaporizer, a box with the glass heating element and rubber tube with glass ends. You can use it for vaping flower but it does wonders w/various extracts. Lately, I've been using it to vape bubble hash and set the temp for 357F. Seems to work nicely with most the hash vaporizing in the first hit but not tasting burnt. Lower temps are supposed to increase the flavor but I also don't want it to flow instead of evap. I'll have to do some testing myself but wonder what temp you guys use?

I also ordered a dab rig conversion for my water pipe but that seems less accurate, just torch and go.

With my dab rig I heat quartz up to it’s cherry then let cool till cherry fades. Then hit.

With my pocket vape (not e cig). Like a little black box. Has 3 diff temp settings.

Same with my volcano type vape.

For the flower I use around 375. It might be getting a little hot but I never had much success with the volcano at lower temps, I was like yeah meh, give me the strong thick bags even though they say not to do it. I think they did recommend to start at around 350 and work your way up.

For concentrates it depends upon the consistency - wax, butter, shatter, live rosin, etc.

The more oily concentrates seem to vape starting around 275*F. The stiffer concentrates tend to vaporize better at higher temperatures. I try not to go above 400*F.

I use a Sai Top Airflow rig which adapts to a hand held vape mod. It's a handy setup for me since I vape nicotine also.

I switched to a Dynavap. Butane powered. Heat the top you get a flavorful wispy hit. Middle of it is middle of the road. Further down hotter it gets and you get a nice full flavor and cloud. Really best vape I've used after a desktop rig, magic flight box, and friends volcanoes.

You can pack concentrate or flower. Can use an induction heater to save butane.

Thank you guys for the information and recommendations. I think I'll try turning the temp up a bit more. Right now I get 3 or so medium hits before it is done, I'd rather get one huge hit instead. :) I have a friend with nails, terp slurpers and dab rigs who mostly uses BHO and a propane torch. I'll have to take some bubble over to run tests on his different apparatuses. I remember reading Hippie recommending a Borosilcate straw.

Those are pretty cool tools Myc and Rocky!

I got a dynavap this year. After seeing mentioned on here. Use it for flower. All I can say is I wish I'd known about these a longtime ago - I bloody love it.

Do you have the induction heater Cuboid or do you use a propane torch. It kind of reminds me of the fake metal "cigarettes" from waaaay back.

B-hits I can handle all day, oil and hash hits have humbled me on more than one occasion. :)

Sometimes I wonder if the concentrates are too strong, once you get used to those hoots where you can feel the wave wash down your body it is a slippery slope. There is high and then there is confused high, where you have trouble focusing on any one thing to the point of satisfaction. Walking in and out of the kitchen ten times sort of stuff

But damn they taste good

I think like most things, dosage makes a major difference! My friend makes BHO and is very generous with it to the point where I pack my own bowls now. Instead of a pin head of BHO on top of some flower, he'd cover the top w/a solid layer. 20 minutes later after coughing and sputtering trying to clear the bowl, your lungs would hurt and you'd be ready for a little nap. Pens can be that way for me too sometimes.

On the plus side, the come down from vaping seems easier, not as much of a crash as smoking, at least to me.

One thing that never really gets discussed about vaping is the actual "hit" itself.

If you're rolling clouds - you're wasting your goodies. The same effect can be achieved with a smaller amount of extract. I was taught to inhale and then exhale immediately. Don't hold it in. I was also shown to use the lowest effective temperature for vaporizing and the smallest practical amount of extract to achieve the desired result. I buy 1/2 oz. of extract and it lasts me close to 2 years.

We are trying to keep our lungs from looking like the inside of a dab rig.

I'll admit the magic flight box got me toasted and you never exhaled visible vapor. With the dynvap I can clear the bowl in 1 hit or 6. I like to feel the burn and see a big cloud still. My throat is getting pissed at how quickly I got back into smoking cigarettes though. It's time for me to take a break again and I think I'll slow down with concentrates.

Can you clean your lungs like a dab rig. Don't waste that reclaim!

I went with butane cigar lighter as it seemed cheapest/easiest way to try out new equipment at the time but now I've got used to the Dynavap and know I like it I would consider getting an induction heater. Seem to have to refill the cigar lighter almost every time I refill the bowl.

I've definitely reduced my intake from years ago but still enjoy a fat B-hit of flower. You are right though Myc, your method is healthier and more frugal as well. If you measured the actual amount of oil being burned per bowl of flower and vaped the equivalent amount of concentrate it would probably be closer to the amount you use Myc.

Before starting this thread, I ordered a couple of the glassware pieces in the picture, so far, them seem to work OK.

Cuboid, you might look into creme brulee torches, they have higher fuel capacity an more BTU.

The flame from culinary torches can be too large. It’s better with a narrow flame.

The induction heater can clean our metal tools. We used to build them in the community and now the manufactures have them available.
