Ignore me, never grown blues. Figured they were stretching a bit.

All good, they look like blue oysters in the beginning (tubers), and they are Dense like Kings and changing rapidly (looking like Kings more and more).  And shoot man, this isn't a professional setup or anything, maybe they do need more Air (as far as Maximum potential).  This setup is geared towards US common home growers, and I didn't mean to sound like a pretentious Asshat.  Someone has to look out for the little guy who just wants to grow for fun or food (Medicine).

@Arathu... Kings are my favorite mushroom to eat, and I'm hoping these are close or similar to the King Trumpets.  I can tell you I touched one of the fruits and they are Thick and Meaty already.  I also like the fact that I can slice the bag which doesn't work well with KO.  This hybrid has me excited, and Wow, this culture is aggressive.  My new King Blue blocks colonized a 5-pound block in 16 days.  Very fast for normal 69–71-degree Room Temperature.  I could only imagine how fast at 75-77F.  Appreciate you stopping by Fungus Friend.

Speaking of kings...Better not jinx myself. I still don't like most mushrooms. Kings are becoming my favorite food, full stop.

kings.JPG

Come on I thought we were competing here
At the end of the day if we can eat, it's a win. If I can tighten up my fruits for "market" reasons I'm happy. Just curious if I could do it. I like to set goals and run "mock production".
You're killing it, it's not like anyone's helping us with our gourmets. I'd like advice too or nitpicking, so tossing it at you cuz I know you can take it. Pans...

Honestly haven't looked at many regular oysters and I just put mine to agar. I thought they get "etiolated" with too high CO2 and Kings wanted that. But for regular oysters you want a bigger cap?

Also LM for me never tendrilled with incorrect air. Lions mane is god awful to me unless it has perfect teeth. (don't like mushrooms lol )

Dude I should learn to read, those are KING BLUES (my brain just kept seeing blue and figured regular oyster). Do you treat it like a king or in between? Now my brain hurts.

Yes Sir, I can take it you know that.  That's a nice pinset there of Kings, now you need some Cap development with frequent Air exchanges.  I freakin' suck at open blocks with KO.  Although, I haven't tried since the dial in of the tent but cased gives up some BIG meaty fruits.  I'LL probably do like last time and see what happens open block style, if it's horrible, I'll case for a Nice Big Second flush (and a 3rd).  I may not be giving myself enough credit since I've had bad experiences with Open block KO's.  All good, even when you make a mistake, Case it and FIXED.   :meditate:

LoL... you thought they were regular Blue Oysters didn't you?  Dyin' laughin right now.  That's the cool thing with KB, you can slice like Blue Oysters on top, Side fruit, whatever fits your setup efficiently.

You are 100% correct about LM, you see those bright white fruits with Tentacle Teeth, YOU know you are doing something right.  I have found that they do excellent right around the 94-95% humidity.  Doesn't like 92-93% at all (Dry out on you easily).

Alright, grabbed a few pics before the camera battery died on me... JUST in the Nick of Time.

I always enjoy watching Oyster varieties grow SO damn Fast.  This one is NO exception and is Impressive.

I soaked the LM blocks for a 2nd flush since the Bears Head blocks did so well on a 4th, I figured earlier soak, BIGGER Second flush instead of waiting for the 3rd or 4th.  They are just drip drying for a while and I'll throw them back in the Chamber later today. The blocks feel nice and heavy again, right around an 18hr Soak.

P1120999.JPG

Bears Head Block right on schedule, 7-10 days usually from Slicing.

P1130004.JPG

I need to check on the blocks and see what else is ready to go.  I know the Beech Clam blocks are really close, SLOW colonizer, EHH who knows if it's a Keeper.  My initial instincts are telling me.... NOT likely, BUT Please Prove me Wrong!

Knowing those are actual Kings. Or some Hybrid makes me think your winning.
I've fruited a ton of king blocks but all those pins abort on me. Getting high FAE and good humidity is a dilemma in my conditions. Just cut 4 new kings in crazy new ways will see if any pin better. I really need to just mold the bag into a bottle.
That's why I was switching to blues, figured they a bit easier to pull more weight from.

This is why I don't mind casing KO since it's easier to give them plenty of FAE and not dry the top of the block out.  It is an extra step to case, but I've used Coco/Verm and Calcium Carb (Which probably wasn't needed, but I have plenty of Oyster Shell Flour on hand).  I went 5 flushes with a Coco casing and never contaminated and two of those flushes were Outside Open Air.

I'm betting you would do well with these King Blues @RockyFungus.  I prefer slices (Don't Connect the Slices so it doesn't Flap Open on you) over Open blocks.... NO Doubt.

Alrightie... it's been a week and SO much has happened.  Mostly good, SUM bad.

Bad news first.... Lost the Maitake block about a week ago, had a little bit of green mold, block was getting too wet (assuming, didn't look that wet really) being open and I should have moved it, same with the Reishi block, it's same thing.  The other Reishi Block is fine, and I have two more colonized.  I always do my work in 2's for fault tolerance.  I'm not used to losing too much of my projects, so a bummer.... FOR Sure... but the more we play.... the more likely to experience LOSS.  I may throw the last 2 Reishi blocks outdoor like I did last season.  Who knows, I change my mind like a squirrel ALL the time.

P1130071.JPG

P1130136.JPG

I harvested up the King Blue Block and a Solid giver at harvest.  They are an in-between mushroom... not as dense as KO, and not as hollow or squishy/rubber-like as Blue Oysters.  Nice Crunch, but KO is still the KING.  Good flavor, lingers on the palate and closer to the KO taste rather than Blues.  All in All, tasty Oyster and went well with Onions and Brussel Sprouts. I soaked the block for about 18 hours or so and it's back in for Round 2.

I soaked up the LM blocks for a Round 2 instead of waiting for the 3rd or 4th Flush.  Nothing yet, but No issues, should see some movement Soon.

The Beech Clam isn't showing any Pins yet but hasn't been in that long so it's Fine.

I have 2 Conifer Coral blocks ready whenever I am, and the two KO blocks are ready too.  Just staggering my fruits at this point so it's not Overwhelming.

I also noticed my PC is leaking a decent amount, I'm going to do a test run with nothing in the sterilizer after a thorough cleaning, but I'm going to order the replacement gasket/plug set anyway just to have it on hand.

I think that's it, all colonizing blocks are great, CotW is just Eating Wood every Day.  Keep your bags sterilized, and your Fruits Plentiful.   :meditate:

Alright folks, WORK to do on this thread as well.  Been just enjoying the Ride and running through blocks.  Let's get to IT

The King Blue blocks both of them were busts for 2nd flushes so sent them Outside.  The initial flushes were really nice so makes sense bunk 2nds.  Random First Flush Pics from 2nd KB Block.

The newest King Blue block is doing well, I'll be pulling them tonight.  I just put another King Blue block in so Pins coming shortly on that one.  This King Blue block that

is done tonight, pinned very quickly since the block was stalled and WELL colonized. Should be called BLUE Streak or something, FAST colonizer/fruiter.  Fastest I've worked with THUS Far.

The Conifer Coral block is doing well, I also put another one in 4 or 5 days after the first one.  Starting to develop a Decent size fruit, excited for cheaper fir pellets and looks great.  I have two more

Blocks ready to go whenever I want to fruit them, and the Bears head blocks are working on a 2nd flush and they are outta there.

I lost another Maitake block, so I buried it outside with some slits in it.  Who knows, probably won't amount to anything, BUT what IF.  I am testing another block in the tent with slices, I may just plant

the other two blocks and see if they fruit in the fall/winterish.  I should have pulled the trigger and did more logs like the COTW.

P1130513.JPG

2.19.22

Speaking of the CotW, everything KOSHER and looks healthy and ready whenever I am or weather permitting.

P1130481.JPG

2.18.22

Reishi doing pretty good, a few small fruits, I'm testing slices with Reishi as well instead of Open block.  Already has nice bumpage where the slices are.  I've planted Reishi outside as well, and they can do good in spring time so if it doesn't pan out, ALL good.  My experience with Reishi is still fairly new and a WIP.

2 Shiitake S75 Blocks about 2 months in and looking great.  I'll get those in Next month.

Oh, I stashed a Pink Oyster block and it's been just sitting in the bag this whole time.  Looks good and with warmer weather coming, could use it for something who knows, I'll do some fresh blocks soon as well.  Definitely need a rematch with this one.

P1130484.JPG

2.18.22

The 2 Beach Clam blocks have been in the chamber quite a while and nothing emerging from the slices.  Not sure at this point (took a long time to colonize as well), maybe have to tape the slices and go open block.  No experience with these and New to me.

P1130509.JPG

P1130515.JPG

2.18.22

Still nothing from the 2 KO blocks, one has some nice bumps happening, but no fruits currently.  I also opened another KO block and did slices on another to test how they do.  I also have a fresh Oat jar of KO ready to spawn whenever the Wine Cap spawn is ready.

Wine Cap Spawn is really close, maybe 2 days left to colonize, if that.

P1130489.JPG

2.18.22

I meant to post this 2 days ago, FELL asleep, and then was busy with other Life Work.  I'm not finished, I'll be back later today for a few more updates and to finish up the Bears Head First Flush fruits.  Came out Amazing.  All the Best ya'll.

Quick Update today, Martha still just spitting out various fruits from multiple blocks.  My KO blocks are doing good, but slow to PIN, I'm a bit worried and probably should of stuck with a casing layer.  I just lowered the bags a bit more, but I usually don't have trouble with these.  Anyway, they will fruit now or later, I may just get impulsive and case them and be done with it.  Added another Conifer Coral block to the party, and soaking up the first flush block and will be ready to put back in for a second flush tonight.

P1130648.JPG

I dropped in a Shiitake block 3 or 4 days ago and Looking to be a decent flush, gave the block the traditional SMACK down, and threw it in the Garage Fridge for 24hrs.  I have also used my cold concrete floor at times if NO fridge room, but it's a Spare, so it's usually NOT the case.

Thank you (for the praise and stopping by)... I actually forgot about that pink block for several months until I thinned out some work.  I had no expectations with it since it was spawned in Late November, or early December.  I guess it was just waiting on me to do what it DOES.
