The grain was spawned with a wedge of agar from a year old culture from the fridge. I did one g2g transfer before I started. I pasteurized the fuel pellets/wheat bran earlier this morning. 3/4” holes were drilled in a cleaned out kitty litter bucket ( A lot of my myco sub supplies are housed in repurposed kitty litter buckets). I layered the bucket with sawdust and spawn. I placed the sawdust in a sub bag and put the remaining spawn into the bag and used the impulse sealer to finish up.

Looking Great UP in here... LM or any Hericium variety is an Amazing mushroom to grow(the wife's scared of the fruits, she thinks it's Alien like) and Eat.  Excited to see how your Outdoor turns out, I've only grown LM inside(other than an occasional freebie in the compost pile).  I'll keep an eye on you SIR.

I decided to start up an Oyster bucket outside grow as well. The spawn was kept in the mini fridge. The smell is a normal mushroom smell and there is no sign of Tammy. That’s popcorn supplemented with coffee grounds. I used the same process with the bucket, but with smaller holes.

I have placed both buckets (Lion’s Mane & Pearl Oyster) outside in the bags I had them in as they continue to colonize. I’ll put an empty bucket under both later to give them a totem kind of setup. I’m very tempted to build a tiny structure around them. The filter patch bag is looking nice inside as well.

Another dirtmaker.....sweet! Make plugs and sawdust spawn, you can order it also, and do logs too....good stuff!

I'm staying tuned to this!

I've always had bad luck spawning to pasteurized sawdust. Trich seems to rear its had at 4:1 spawn rates.

I hope you get some beefy pom poms!

To my dismay, you were right on the outside grow ratio and Tricky Trich. Shucks. I tossed both buckets for good measure due to proximity. The inside sub bag is doing great.

I think I will try the sawdust or plugs on logs for my next outside learning experience. The bucket experiment was certainly demoralizing, but learning was certainly achieved… don’t do it that way namaste.

Sliced and breaded... but my favorite is simplistic, olive oil.. sea salt/pepper and peppers and onions.. Fresh garlic if you have it.  Agreed tho' Rocky... Dem' Crab Cakes are Delicious!
