I have got some swabs, they appear dark with lovely spores but... Do I just drag them of pat them on a plate of agar?

I have not dealt with swabs before...

You can use sterile tweezers to pull strands to place on agar.

You can use a wetter agar and swipe the surface and hope it sticks.

You can use a drop of sterile syringe water onto the spore and swab

You can be the ultimate lazy and just stab the agar and have a 1 time use swab (may contam at handle)

I've seen someone cut the swab end off right below the cotton with flame sterilized scissors, but so far what I have done is just swipe the dish in a Z shape and transfer out the spots that begin to colonize. I might give the tweezer trick a try sometime though.
