This is my 4th grow overall but first time doing PE.

One tub has almost double the grain spawn as the other as I was planning on doing one tub but had too much grain so I did two.

The super packed one has some globular growth going that look almost like pebbles, I have seen this before and have seen this turn to mushrooms so not too worried but still odd.

Second tub has some of the same but much less dense due to less grain:

Any thoughts?

Nice... Once you get PE down, you will love them.  You have the early signs of Knots or Blobs, she's pinning(takes a few days(Up to 3) for PE), In my experience, you can get away without casing some PE varieties, others JUST Do It.  If I have a new PE Cross and or  variety I don't know anything about, I'll just fruit it.  If it doesn't work out to my liking, I case it for the 2nd and 3rd flush and call it a day(Rarely Go 4 Flushes).  You look to be on a good path... LET's GO!!

This had a very thin casing layer on it. I find it helps with the moisture more than anything.

Let’s go!

I have the air flow running at 3 out of ten when i have done 2 out of ten (setting on my induct fan) in the past while keeping between 80-90 relative humidity.

Also been using forced evaporation for at least 5 minutes a day with a fan direct on the box.

We shall see, I am hoping to have the first flush finished within two weeks. Fingers crossed!

Damn, may have a contamination/rot going, what do you guys think:

Also just some tub update shots getting some mushrooms but mostly blobs which I have read happens with PE especially the first flush:

When I tried to grow PE on cakes it pretty much made blobs.  Then when I cased it and patched it twice, it grew full fruits.  Next time I'll probably just go with the thick "compressed" casing layer rather than worry about getting blobs.

how do you patch the surface, ive heard this said a couple times. are you just using fresh soil?

What do you think of the white/black growth on the one blob.

Patching is just using fresh casing material to re-cover spots of mycelium that are growing through the original layer.  The idea is that, if you just add a little to the places that are growing through, it gives the rest of the bed time to catch up.  You'll end up getting nice, even growth (and hopefully that means a nice, even pinset).

By using the compression technique, I wonder whether patching is needed.  It seems like you'd get evenness without the patching that way, but I haven't tried it yet.

Hey Hawks.. Looking like it's growing good. My last batch included some PE also and there was all kinds of funky blobs and mutants. Interesting stuff to watch grow. I tried 2 layers of casing on mine. But might try the patching route next time if I can remember it when the time comes.

Two hours of work.

Now only another ten hours of pulling tinny little balls! Sure their potent as hell though:

You definitely got some funky ones. After trying mine I noticed they didn't seem too much more potent than the others, but had more body load and lasted longer. But I think I just got lucky with one of my other strains being good n strong.

Hope they treat you right though.
You gonna try a 2nd flush ?

I’m going to agree on cubes being cubes after trying a few batches of PE.

CLONES ?

you should cut a few clean chunks from center of little balls to transfer to AGAR  or throw cpl little balls in a small grain proof jar and see what kinda weird little ball clones you get heh

The odd structure IME is from them being little thirsty bastards. Because they grow so top heavy I believe they also need a large enough base of coir to hydrate and support the monstrosities they can become. Do they know ahead of time conditions aren't right and just form a small mass?

i tried two grams and they seemed to be good strength but nothing crazy, i dont think that any cubs are cubs i definitly have different experiences with the 4 strains ive grown so far. as far as more potent maybe not but definitley different.

i have had stronger trips from aborts and collections of smaller guys though, i believe that all day so interested to see what the popcorn is all about.
