Just because almost everyone likes pumpkins this time of year.....

This mega-beastie fetched 5th place in the pumpkin contest.

Hell yeah, thats a big'en :)    I like the timelapse video, someone put a lot of time and effort into recording, and compiling all that.

 

As you likely know, we grow some monsters up here in the land of the midnight sun as well.  I think the AK state fair wining pumpkin this year was just over 1600lbs (IIRC)

 

Usually we grow some small ones here on the property, but we didn't grow any pumpkins this year.   We still have a bunch canned up from last year.  No since in growing what you don't need, or cant use.

What is with the piece of wood that comes in to the shot later on. To provide some shade for the pumpkin?

What is with the piece of wood that comes in to the shot later on. To provide some shade for the pumpkin?

 

I thought it was pretty cool how the plywood flexed as the humidity rose and fell (when it flexed the most it was probably rained on).

 

And based on what I've seen I thought that pumpkins were born, not grown. So I guess this is fake, then:
