To avoid triggering their censors and being banned from YouTube I could not put the full video there but it does have the introduction anyway in case you don't want to play the full thing from google drive...

[Direct Link]

The full video is available (free) on google drive, this link (tap or click it) should work for both streaming and/or to download the video, you can even increase the playback speed as on YouTube (on some phones you may need to install the "Google Drive" app to play it?).  The fully updated, written out TEK for growing this species can be found here.  If you've never grown Pan cyans before, don't be intimidated, this species is very easy to grow, perhaps as easy as cubensis, it just has more contamination risk.  I show you in the vid how to mitigate that risk.  I believe the tide will slowly turn and that the majority of growers will eventually select this species over others, it just took a while before we had an easy TEK and widespread knowledge not just about growing it but how it differs from other species chemically (in a positive way).

Someone asked me "How long does it take to grow this species?"

Here was my initial quick math: Best case using agar: spores to agar, 5-7 days until the mycelium can be used (but time varies, could take longer).  7-10 days on small grain jar(s) to get to 1/3rd colonization, shake that, and you should be at full colonization 3 days later, dump that into big grain jars or mycobag and you can be at full colonization in another 5-7 days (best case).  Spawn your substrate (dump grain into substrate in cake pans), then it takes 6-7 days to fully colonize the substrate (using recommended Estero strain), case that after full colonization, then its 6-7 days until first harvest.  So best case scenario with agar, you can go from spores to harvest in about 34 days.

BUT I LOVE A CHALLENGE and I decided just for fun to see how fast I could grow this species if speed was the top consideration, I was able to do it in just 23 days spores to harvest!  I did this by going direct from spores to grains (by way of homemade spore syringe), incubating that at 85F, shaking the jars after 5 days, waiting another 4 days for the grain to fully colonize, then directly spawning those grains to substrate (no grain transfers) and casing that after 4 days (the substrate looked completely colonized after just 4 days after keeping the temps at 80-82F).  Can you beat my record?

Thanks for posting this, I just ordered a print and hoping to get some good results. Can anyone point me to some more info either on this site or elsewhere, trying to track down info on this site is, how shall I say it, challenging, to say the least. It would be much appreciated. I did follow the links from Youtube to the full length video.

This is great Gordo!  Thanks for sharing your entire process.  Dumping fog into a bathtub or kiddie pool is ingenious, simple and elegant.  Eliminates the need for a complicated system of hoses, timers, tents, etc.  I can tell you put a lot of work into this and the video presents it in a very easy way to understand.  I will definitely be coming back to this video when I get the time to grow these Pan cultures I have in my fridge.

Excellent video, they seem pretty easy to grow if you've got the space for them.

I'm sure a walk in closet lined with plastic would do the trick if one didn't have an extra bathroom to spare.

I can't wait to get to work on these guys, I have alot of problems with negative trips from cubensis and I know it's not just me since I have an awsome time on lsd and mescaline. Would be nice to experience these over cubensis.

If you don't have a tub to use, or a kiddie pool, I have found that a plastic sled works amazingly well:

IMG-20211209-154247-using-sled-for-heati

You can use the clear cake pan lids as "boats" by putting the foil cake pans inside of them and floating them on the water ($1 at dollar tree).  This increases the humidity, but was actually done to keep the cake pans warm in a cold weather grow.  Surface temp is 65F, aquarium heater in bottom of sled is set to 82F, some water was added between the foil pan and clear lids to better transfer the heat directly to the substrate (greatly improving results).  As you can see, it is possible to get nice results with this simple setup.  This was also a multispore test, wanted to see if strain isolation mattered, and it doesn't as far as I'm concerned.  A long sled can hold 5 cake pans which is more than enough ;)

These "Snaplock® 41 Quart Clear Plastic Underbed Storage Containers" from Walmart ($10) should work just as well as the sled and fit 3 cake pans in each one.  Amazon also has them but at triple the price of walmart.

Gordo, thank you so much for sharing your inventions.  So simple and effective.  What do you think about using a plastic tub instead of a bathtub?  For those of us without an extra bathroom...

Last year I created a relatively simple (for pan growers) setup that involved a plastic tub with a gasket lid.

Very tiny weak computer fan with barely perceptible air flow at the center of the lid, running constantly and gently pulling fresh air into holes at the bottom and through moist perlite.

In addition, a humidifier hooked up to a humidistat that would turn on whenever the humidity dropped below a certain point.

It never occurred to me that I could just have the top open and place the humidifier above the plastic tub and just have the fog dumping into the tub... thereby creating a good amount of fresh air exchange and humidity.  Do you think this would work?  Since I don't have an extra bath tub, would I be able to take the top of my plastic tub and have that be my "bathtub"?

COOL ! THIS VID TURNED OUT GREAT ! Gordo !

If any of you  people want a pan print to look at under your microscope .. only aaahhummm.

right we have fundraiser going to raise some funds here at mycitopia .. go to the FUND RAISER THREAD make a pledge and get one or more of three different  pan prints free ..and passably some cube bonus  prints

This all started when i checked out a vendor Gordo recommended , thanks Gordo .. So i checked there page out and they had pan print on sale ,so i bought a few to donate for like an auction or fund raiser ...when i told the vendor i was donating the prints they threw on a bunch more thanks SporesFast .. so i started asking around if there was any interest in a fund raiser giving out free , pan sore and swabs . right away two more members donated a cpl more types of pans and few some interesting cubes .

a vendor and several members i said  have donated Three different  types of Pan Prints ,,pan Estero , pan WILD Coast , and ,pan PEACE RIVER ,,and some unusual cubes .

how this works  you pledge the amount you want to give at the fundraiser thread and witch pan or pans  you want . all the info at thread ,  https://mycotopia.ne...int-maybe-more/

if you have trouble seeing this link to the pans for  mycotopia upkeep funds send me a PM

THANKS

I DO think it would work.  I have not tried that setup yet but was thinking I probably should.  I was however thinking the more shallow totes (referenced in my post above, the type designed to fit under a bed) would probably be preferred (for better air movement and less chance of basically submerging the cake pans in "fog") and I know for a fact they work.  Let me know if you give it a try.

I wonder if having a few half inch holes drilled near the bottom of the tote would allow the downward moving fog to escape slowly and prevent the cakes from being submerged in fog for too long.  I'll let you know how it goes!

Super sweet grows. You too orangutan. I am also in the boat of having limited space (definitely no bathroom or closet to dedicate) I might have to try the smaller tote route. I like the heater in the surrounding water idea. My space is a garage with pretty big temp swings so the smaller the space, the easier to regulate temp.

Thanks for the video and some new ideas!

Someone sent some feedback on the PanCyan TEK with some very nice pictures today, thought I'd share:

pancyan-GTEK1.jpg

pancyan-GTEK2.jpg

pancyan-Scale.jpg

He said: "It's ridiculous that these were still spores just 31 days ago.  Can't believe the timeframe or the yield.  Each of those scales has the first flush of a single 9x12x2" pan."

That's right, a single cake pan can produce over a pound of mushrooms, and that's just the first flush, you can get 4-5 flushes from each cake pan.

"My only complaint with the TEK is how long it took to harvest! So grateful someone else took the time to do all the research and experimentation so that I didn't have to."

Haha, yes for such a small pan, they really can be a challenge to harvest quickly particularly if you are trying not to damage the pins at the base which will form the next flush.

p.s. YouTube deleted the vid that was in the original post of this thread, which is pretty ridiculous since it was only a teaser/introduction with no objectionable content.  I am testing the waters with Rumble but not sure how long it will last there?  I put the full vid up to see what would happen: https://rumble.com/v...-mushrooms.html

His 3rd cake pan harvest clocked in at a record 585 grams!

Its even more remarkable that this was a multi-spore grow (spore syringe directly to grain jars), no strain isolation whatsoever!  This was the Estero strain.  He says he followed my TEK precisely, but that he did use an LED worklight on a timer, perhaps the extra supplemental light levels helped produce this perfect result?  Worth exploring further.  Job well done.

Got another interesting private message from someone using my pan cyan TEK, but they used coir instead of straw for their substrate mix.  I didn't think this would work very well, but here's the result:

pancyancoirexperiment.jpg

This is interesting to me because coir is far less susceptible to contamination.  Also you might be able to sterilize a coir based substrate instead of pasteurizing it (although in this particular experiment it was in fact pasteurized).

FYI: I uploaded the pan cyan vid to Odysee, so far it hasn't been removed and I haven't been banned ;)
