Wow, those are spectacular!

I'd feel like the Chosen One (by Mescalito) if I stumbled across either one of those incredible finds, and I'd try to camouflage them better before I left so no one else would find them since I would not harvest any peyote from the wild.

All I've got to say that's truly amazing!!

I've only seen them in the wild in pictures, and that's not likely to change anytime soon, considering I live above 60* lattitude, lol

Beautiful pictures, thank you for sharing :)

Wow, "These images floored me" you could say that again.  Beautiful find and I agree @TVCasualty... I would Never harvest wild Peyote since they are endangered from Over harvesting and it's just Respect IMHO.  There is a Proper way to harvest so they come back, but I wouldn't Dare to take that chance.  Anyway, Thank you for this find and Sharing.  I'll give up the Likes when I have them again.

I certainly would not take from the wild. Well....I can't seeing as I don't live where they do grow naturally. However, speaking of has bought to mind the conundrum surrounding this plant and the religious connotations involved. The NAC believe the sacrament should be harvested from the wild, understandably so. Growing it artificially it does not contain the Earth Prescence. OK. However, these plants are very slow growing and rare! Hopefully in the future a compromise will be met. This sacrament can be grown, with full potential, in artificial circumstances. I have my one Lophophora Williamsii; it is old, and I would never cut a button of it! For this sacrament, I have San Pedro.

IMO that's a troubling counter-productive belief that is wrong even in the context of accepting the basic premise of the existence of a spirit world and that entheogens can help them perceive, contact, or communicate with it.

It might become a self-limiting belief if over-harvesting eventually does render peyote extinct. That seems likely as global warming destabilizes the climate, which is probably not good news at all for any extremely slow-growing species even if over-harvesting wasn't an issue. The irony of destroying what we deem sacred via our devotion to it seems typically on-brand for humans so maybe we should reassess the concept of "sacred" or whatever is going on in situations like this.

By this standard our fungi grown in a plastic bin would not measure up as the real spiritual deal, either. LSD is off the list completely, too.

I am spiritually oriented , and was introduced to peyote in a ceremonial setting in the late 70's. I continued my "spirit walks" afterward with a variety of container grown mescaline cactus.

There was no doubt (to me) of of the "presence" embodied in the cactus in my first experience, or in any of the others afterward.

So in my opinion, the NAC belief is simply not true.

Just my two cents...........

Thank you for sharing those awesomely beautiful pictures Ferretious !
